Happy New Year to all of you too! We have started to thaw out (can't say that too loudly). Got so cold some days Sadie didn't want to stay out for long.

High school friend from Idaho was here for a short time today, they go to FL for the winter and stay with his sister. I have Windows 7 on my computers now, a few small details to fix, but so far no big problems.

I've just come out of holiday mode, & ATM I'm preparing for a heat wave, which is due to arrive this week.

At the cricket in Sydney the other day they had a reading of 56C (132.8F) on the pitch at one point! As if the Brit boys didn't have enough to worry about!
West of Sydney, large sections of the bitumen highway melted! I'm hoping we don't get it to that extent.

Howdy folks!

Forgive my absence, Ole JR hasn't been too well, and I came down with the lurgy and was knocked off my feet for almost a week. We are both much better now, thank goodness.
I have to go to the hospital tomorrow to see my consultant and get some blood and lung tests done as I have had two really bad chest infections recently which each cause further damage to my lungs. On top of that, my red blood cell count has risen again - I must be a banquet on legs for all the biting insects


Take care of yourself books, be sure to keep warm and get some hot honey and lemon toddies down yer neck ....if they don't cure you they sure make you feel better lol!!!
Hope you are soon on the mend and raring to go.

That's a lovely choon Old, sure wish we could see/hear you playing at your steel guitar meeting next weekend. As for your summer weather - crikey! That is some hot stuff! Ever likely our chaps have lost the Ashes - it's a wonder that they didn't turn to ashes in that heat

What a contrast to our pals over the pond who are suffering such c-c-cold temps ...brrr. Wyo, Shes, hurry, Al and all our other cousins - keep safe and warm.
If anyone has made a large crock pot of delicious stew to keep out the cold and warm the innards, I'll fetch my bowl. I'll share my dumplings .....

Hey, y'all!!

Thank goodness it has warmed up, otherwise, we'd be having snow instead of rain. It's supposed to be up to 60 mid week and then back down to the 30's for the weekend - what a roller coaster!! At least I've got a chance to catch up on chores outside - need to clean the spring and muck out the pens.

WYO - you and Sadie stay warm! I like Win 7 - have Home Premium on my desktop and for Christmas I got a Dell laptop with Win 7 Pro, which has the ability to run some of the older software that I have and miss using. Without sounding like I'm bragging, can I also mention that I got my "long wished for" Henry lever action .22??? A trip up into the holler with a bag of cans is for sure on the agenda for the 60 degree day (IF it's not raining!).

BOOKS - I hope you are over your cold. I started coming down with one too, but got it knocked in the head with some herbs so it only lasted 1 day.

OLD - the highway actually melted?? WOW! I'm glad that it doesn't get that hot here, not that it would matter with my road - they were supposed to pave it last spring but it's still dirt At least they put down chert instead of limestone - dusty when it's dry but not nearly as bad on my sinuses as the lime was.

Would love to see a vid of you all playing!! Joe Wilson also teaches the Tennessee Waltz - hint! hint! LOL!! I SO love to waltz but got a hubby with 2 left feet

I'm "playing bear" and hibernating this winter. I've started another search for my ancestors (last searched about 10 years ago) and that has been very fruitful, as there is so much more information out there now to make connections. I've also stocked up on some new computer games to keep my mind occupied while my body and spirit heal from all the events of the past year. As soon as I get bills paid (ugh!) I'll be off on an island, rebuilding some villages - lol!
