Thread: Cocktails!!! and Music

    Default Re: Cocktails!!! and Music

Hi everyone, not been a very nice last few days for me.

I have a stonking cold again, passed on from having the grandchildren Thursday/Friday. Both kids were full of cold, JR is furious coz Dominic is not supposed to bring the children near me when they have colds.
As my immune system is not good with the bronchiectasis I think I have yet another chest infection.
The docs gave me an emergency supply of Co-amoxiclav antibiotics that I'm supposed to take when I start the coughing up, (to prevent further damage to the bronchi) but yesterday I had a letter from the hospital consultant telling me that there was a problem with the sputum samples I have to give.
Apparently moraxella catarrhalis is present, and I'm not to take Co-amoxiclav since I'm sensitive to it, but need a two week course of Clarithromycin.
All this is getting me down, especially as I have to give more blood samples tomorrow as the hospital rejected the other lot.
Tut, do you think anyone would notice if I drank a couple of stiffies, sure would make me feel better! (I have tried to be good and have drank lots of water so that they will get the bloods they need tomorrow).

Nuff about me, we have had our first winter storm here in UK - storm Angus. You can read about it here http://www.express.co.uk/news/weather/734154/Storm-Angus-Snownado-severe-UK-batter

I don't know whassap, but I have probs with the internet tonight, so I will sign off , I'm getting fed up of submitting crash reports!

Adorable pics, Old!! Don't see a little muffin top in the bottom one, tho, but the similarity in the faces is wonderful!!

Trish....................yep - I think some spirits would make good cough medicine. I recommend LOTS of it.

By the way..............did someone mention CHOCOLATE??..

Hey, y'all! Glad to see some activity here!!

MEEBO - I hate to say it but I'm looking forward to some colder weather so I can go into hibernation - but extremely grateful that we are only having some short spurts of chilly weather, as I still have lots I want to do outside before it gets too cold for my bones.

TRISH - so sorry to hear you are "under the weather" in more ways than one!! I have some sinus/bronchial weakness too - although not as severe as yours sounds, so I "feel for you"! Have you tried herbs to boost your immune system? I take Echinacea during the cold/flu season daily and if I have to go to town and be around people, I add Goldenseal Root the day before I go, the day I go and the day after AND as long as I remember to take them, I usually don't catch anything. When I went to OH last fall, I forgot to take them with me and ended up in the ER the day after I got home - the air up there is way more polluted than I am used to Have yourself several large "watered down" stiffies - that ought to help on both counts!! And keep us posted here on your progress!!

I read about your weather in the news over here the other day - tornadoes and snow storms - just CRAZY!

OLD - yes she does look like you in the face for sure! I can't believe she's 5 weeks old already!! How are mom & dad holding up???

HER MAJESTY - yes, Chocolate was mentioned, with the addition of some peppermint Schnapps!

Good Grief!! Where has the day gone?? I just looked at the clock and it's 2 pm - time to go feed.

    Y'all take care!!

    Shes

    Howdy all,

Well she certainly has my stomach ATM hopefully she'll lose that later!
I'd say her Mum & Dad are fairly stressed of late, as they have just moved back here to the sunshine state from down south.
They want to raise Brody as a Brisbane girl, so drove home over the weekend (2 day drive) with the wee bub & family pets, & are currently settling back into their home.
We're having Christmas day at their place, so I'll get to meet the new addition then.
I'm working on her Chrissy present ATM - which will be her first piece of bling jewellery - a tradition I started with her Mother & Aunt.

    Here's one for little troublemaker!

Well it had to happen eventually!
Think of me during the next 8 - 10 weeks new house construction next door!
Being so dry, you can imagine the dust.

Day 1 - 7am this is what's going on ATM

    Hello!
Oh poor Old - must be awful having bulldozers making a racket at 7am, and the thought of all that dust has started me off coughing .... good job you supplied some drinks (thank-you!). Yes, sure is a likeness with you and little Brody, and what a lovely idea to make a special piece of jewellery for her, it will be treasured for sure.
Enjoyed your selection of TV themes, bought back lots of memories for me too.

Shes, hope the weather in your neck of the woods is clement for you, don't go into hibernation just yet! Posbear is still hibernating, so the forum will be really quiet if you disappear too! Hope that you are managing to get all the work done - how's the flooring project doing?

I'm looking forward to the weekend as all my family are coming to stay for a belated birthday bash, as I wasn't well enough to celebrate last weekend. Should be fun (??!) - especially as we shall have three dogs running around as well (Lucia is bringing her dogs too), a sausage dog puppy called Frank (as in Furter!) and Scruffy (says it all really!).
Teagan told me that they will be preparing a Mexican meal on Saturday, my favourite food, so that will be nice.

I have to prepare the spare bedroom and wash/change the bedding and get rid of the layer of dust that has settled since it was last cleaned

I'm going to shampoo the carpets as well, although JR said it's a waste of time with a horde of kids/dogs traipsing in and out.
Right, I'm off for a cuppa now, time for elevenses, I'll share so help yourselves folksI
(Thought I would get out the best china in case Her Maj dropped by!)

OLD - that will be so nice to have the baby (and parents) close by so you can keep an eye on her growing up and be part of her life. YEP! Start her out right and make her some bling!! I hope it doesn't take them long to settle in, a move with a baby & critters can be tedious!

SO sorry to hear about the construction I'm used to noise - birds, chickens, dogs, squirrels dropping nuts on the roof, etc., but when they were out here prepping the road for pavement next spring, it like to have drove me nuts!! The "thundering" down the road of the equipment and the "parade" of heavy dump trucks (speeding - almost ran a neighbor off the road! - and raising clouds of dust) was bad enough but when ever one would back up they beep a warning that pierces the ears and it seemed to me that they did more backing up than moving forward. Yes, you certainly have my sympathies!!

TRISH - it sounds like you are feeling better How did the doctor's visits go? Were the vampires successful this time??

So fun to have a houseful! I really hope you enjoy the festivities and the Mexican dinner - one of my favorite things too. Living in AZ allowed me to learn about real Mexican food - as opposed to Taco Bell - LOL!!!

I do have to say I agree with JR about the shampooing. With all the "feet" running across the carpet, who is going to notice that it has been shampooed? Shampooing after they leave would be good to get rid of all the hair, dander, etc. that may affect your immune system issues. Not to mention you don't want to wear yourself out before they get there!!

The weather has turned colder but we did get a tad bit of rain yesterday But all work has come to a standstill as my knee is acting up again and my left hand is pretty much useless after a pair of kitchen scissors slipped and stabbed me right in the side of my hand between my thumb and forefinger. Thank goodness for spell check as only the last two fingers on my hand are working properly - LOL!!!

Thanks so much for the tea and biscuits

Hope you all have a wonderful day!!

    Shes

I didn't get around to shampooing the carpets, I had the wind blown out of my sails this afternoon.
I got another letter from the hospital telling me that I have to give yet more blood samples for the haematology and biochemistry labs.
I have given samples to them both for two weeks on the trot, plus visit to oncology for tests on my blood regarding the high red blood cell count.
All this worry and stress is making me feel depressed plus I'm scared that something isn't right.
Geez, never thought that this could happen to me - I have always been as fit as a fiddle ..... with a shape to match, I may add!
(I guess I am more like an old, bent penny whistle these days! )
I suppose I should be grateful for the care I have had, and am still receiving but it makes me wonder if ignorance is bliss sometimes.
Right - enough of that nonsense, quick change of subject.

Shes, you mustn't follow in my or little buttons footsteps as it seems sometimes that we both get injuries from doing everyday 'normal' things.
I have a dent in my leg through falling up the stairs, it was a nasty injury that took ages to heal. Serves me right for always being in a such a hurry.
I think I have had more burns than Guy Fawkes.
I won't go into details but I have fell asleep all night whilst under a sunray lamp way back in 1981, (OMG -that was BAD. I was swathed in bandages and almost lost the sight in my right eye) ) - poured a boiling hot pan of oil all down my front whilst rushing around cooking for customers in my pub, and hot water bottles have left many a deep burn and scar when I fell asleep on them. Probably slept too well whilst under the influence of the demon drink!

Hope that your knee and scissor injury heal/get better soon.

Now then Wyo has been AWOL for a while, I think I had better tempt her in with a treat ......

Yoo-hoo Wyo .... lookee lookee! This is JR's very favourite tipple right now!

Oh, to all my American pals - Happy Thanksgiving Day x
What are you up to Al and Sues ? Sure miss you guys x
