Thanks for the warning, Old. The initial glimpse of charlotte was more than enough for me.

Thought I would pop in and let you all know I survived the election. I stayed awake until 12:30 or there abouts and then switched the channel as it was getting boring waiting for results from the "battleground" states. Fell asleep and woke up about 1:30 switched back and it was all over. Note: 1:30 here would be 3:30 in New York where the tallies were done. People are being pretty hateful and nasty to each other on facebook. Not worth it if you ask me, and nobody did. IMHO we are all going to pay in the next few years for our attitude towards elections and the behavior we have allowed to go on for way too long. I don't exactly know how to implement a change, but the mud slinging needs to stop, the ridiculous spending has to stop and . . .

Me too, although I have to admit I find wolf spiders very entertaining!

WYO - glad you survived the elections. It was "historical" in many respects and the historical moments may not be over:

From an article I read this morning:
"Most Americans assume that their votes decide who the next president will be, but that is actually not the case. It is the Electoral College that will elect the next president, and they don't meet until Dec. 19.

And the truth is that all of the members of the Electoral College never meet in one place.

Rather, electors gather together in all 50 state capitals on the second Wednesday in December, and it is at that time that the next president and vice president are officially elected. Of course members of the Electoral College have voted according to the will of the people about 99 percent of the time throughout our history, but with how crazy this election has turned out to be you never know what might happen.

For example, later on in this article you will see that one elector in Washington state has already publicly stated that he will not cast his vote for Hillary Clinton. If other "faithless electors" emerge, that could potentially change the entire outcome of the election.

If you are not familiar with the basics of how the Electoral College works, here is a pretty good summary from Wikipedia:
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Electo...United_States) End Quote

I agree with your opinion so I'm going to "Saddle up and prepare for a rough ride"

    Hi everyone,
Had a great weekend with the family, the bonfire/firework night was just smashing.
It was very cold though, so we decided to take the little ones indoors rather earlier than we had planned. Didn't manage to let off all the fireworks.
They were sooo tired and soon fell asleep after a good belly full of food, and a bedtime story from me and their daddy.

As for my son, he hadn't had much luck with house/flat hunting, but he did phone last night to say that he had found a really super place near to Ipswich railway station, and had paid the holding deposit.
They knew that he would have the kiddies there so that's promising.

Well, as for me - I have been and done it!
Yes, I have actually had a flu jab today, the first one ever!
Since I'm over 65 and have bronchiectasis the odds that I would snuff it if I got full blown flu were alarming, so I got bullied into it.

Shes, oh what sad news about your rotties, I hear ya on the looking for your old doggie - I still cannot get over losing my Kaiser. I still mourn for him, my best buddie ....

Old - yikes! Charlotte is NOT a spider I would like to come across -
we have had some enormous black hairy beggars in the house of late, they are trying to get indoors for the winter.
I have put conkers (horse chestnuts) down everywhere and funnily enough, it seems to be working!
Gawd, I hate spiders, I couldn't get within arms reach of one without freaking out!
Shes, wolf spiders jump .... eeeek!

Wyo, glad you got McAngus some plates, and hey! .... every gal has to rearrange her drawers at some time or other,
sling the ones with baggy, loose elastic and get sexy frilly ones, or even thongs that don't show up under tight trousers/jeans!
    (UK drawers = knickers!)
Wow - love the JD on salad - must try it!

As for the Presidential elections - least said the better IMO!

    G'day all

My policy is to not comment on political & or religious matters - needless to say I didn't have the TV on AT ALL on election day!

re the spider - but wait, there's more - Saw a report on the news recently here in Brisbane, where one snake "rescue" expert, has collected 47 deadly brown snakes from the greater Brisbane area in a 2 week period. These are relocated to the bush & are considered the worlds 2nd most deadly land snake!

Thought I'd add some theme choons from my TV watching childhood FYE
Notice most are either UK or US programs except the first early wireless show which was a huge hit - my favourite was "Greenbottle"

I would be a quivering wreck if I spotted one of those snakes. I almost passed out with fright when we had a harmless corn snake in the garage when we lived in Florida.
Great selection of choons there Old, some classic TV shows - they don't make 'em like that anymore!
Here is rather an apt choon https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4vudA72hibg

This is what has been going on at my house the last 2 days. I missed getting a picture of before (typical for me), but this old Chinese Elm has been dead - no leaves at all, for 2 years, so I am glad it is down and won't blow over in the wind. Three little kittens came over from next door to help today. a grey, a grey stripey, and a black with a tiny white spot on his chest. My assistant has been working 2 days the last 2 weeks as they are on vacation for the rest of the month. There will probably be a feast at some point, not exactly sure when or what, there is talk of wine and cheese.

I am glad to see all of you here as you can make it in, don't know what I would do without you guys. My spot of sanity some days.

Aww Wyo, I feel the same - love it when there are posts to read in the cocktail and music lounge.
Just everyday chat is great, we do miss our eBid friends when they don't drop by for a while.
Some good logs there, do you have a fire to burn them?
We don't have a fireplace or chimney, but we do have a big fire pit outdoors, and sooo enjoy it when we fire it up!
Erm, when is the feast? I may have to pack my suitcase and fly over, you know I can't bear to miss out on good fodder and party fun!
    I'll bring some plonk ....

Oh, here is a choon for you re the kittens!

Okay - no more politics! I'm usually like OLD and don't discuss them but this election has just been CRAZY!!! It's had more twists & turns than the plot in a good mystery novel!

TRISH - glad to hear you son found a place that will accept the kids! Must be a huge load off both your minds, as moms never stop worrying over their kids. Heard today that my youngest will soon be on his way home from Korea - one less thing for me to worry over

Thanks for the condolences - I'm no longer looking for him all the time but I can't go out to where we buried him yet. I have a gorgeous hot pink hibiscus bush I'm going to plant there next spring.

Yes, wolf spiders jump but they also carry their eggs around in a cool blue sack and when the babies hatch they get carried around on mom's back. When disturbed (from a short distance) the babies scatter and in a bit run back and crawl up on mom. Okay - so I live in the country and have to find amusement in the simple things - lol!!!

Flu shots - back in the late 70's when I was active duty, flu shots were mandatory. I got my first one and was sicker than a dog! I worked in military pay and met a new doctor that came to the base - ever after that when it was flu shot time, I went to see him and he gave me my flu shots - at least according to my medical records

OLD - I read that they have mandatory microchipping now in Oz. Have you got yours yet? SO glad that we don't have those brown snakes here. Given it's size and the fact that most snakes can lunge at least their own length when striking, I don't have a hoe with a long enough handle to defend myself!!

WYO - your yard looks like mine! Or partly like mine did as I've got most of the mess cleaned up that they left behind. The 3 50ft. trunks are still laying in the yard but I have someone coming to take they away for railroad ties. Do have a fireplace but sweet gum is not that good for burning. Was going to get some hickory from the handle mill but they only have ash, which I'll probably settle for as it should burn pretty hot too.

No choons to add to the mix - got to watch my bandwidth allotment and save it for listing!!!! Wanted to do some today but my head is a mess - the up & down temps are trying to start a cold and we are in a drought here and the wind has been blowing dust everywhere, clogging up my sinuses. Just stayed inside and cleaned up the office to prepare for bringing in more totes of "junque" to list.

I really need to get back to work on the floors when I can't be outside but the thought of being on hands and knees with my head down and not letting my sinuses drain as put me off that idea for now!

I did manage to get all the outside critters bedded down with hay for these cold nights. Looks like I will be getting new rabbits next spring - I've bred that doe 3 times now and either she or the buck is not "working" any more. I had a buyer for all the kits too that would have paid for their feed this year The baby chicks are no longer babies - they are as big as Bantys now!

Hope you all have a good week ahead - don't know for sure what I'll be doing, depends on the weather. But for sure I'll be doing something - even if it's something wrong! LOL!!
