Hiya all - Kool stuff there books!
So much so, that I've bought that John Fogerty CD - wow that's right up my street I've seen Eric Bogle a few times, he can & does have you laughing & crying at his shows, a great entertainer & wordsmith.

In answer to your Q = I could speed things up if I went to a Private Hosp. & pay thru the nose - BUT I'll have to wait

Well I went out for a little drive yesterday, to a nearby piece of remnant sub-tropical jungle called the Neurum Creek Reserve (any place with RUM in the name can't be all bad) Did a small bush walk & must go back to do the whole track at some point. Took a couple of pix for you guys! mainly shows an ancient huge "Strangler Fig" tree, it's a Ficus of some sort?
The buttress roots are so massive you need a cut lunch to walk around them! The pix don't show the actual scale of this tree, I'll try to correct that next time.
So old now that the original host tree is gone & this Fig is hollow in the centre, making nice habitat for all sorts of critters
I had to be wary wandering around here as we are nearly into snake season again, with the wriggly sticks coming out of hibernation any time now!

    Howsyallgoin

Great weather again here ATM & I'm off to do some shoppin' shortly - Mother Hubbard's cupboard etc.
Well would you believe it's time for my "new" 4x4 to have its first service - where did that 12 months go.
So I'm goin' to the big smoke of Toowoomba tomorrow at the VW dealership where I bought the car. It's a fixed price service, so I'll only need one wheelbarrow of cash

Here's some Cows & Cowboy choons to be going on with - the Cows get their revenge with the last one!

Have a great time in Toowoomba, hope there's a bar you can mosey into whilst you wait for the service on the VW.
Great pics of the Ficus, and you be careful hanging about the bush - you just never know what critters may be lurking there in the undergrowth

the only thing I have seen in our woods was a thing that looked like a mouse with a long cone shaped nose, I have met a skunk face to face but not in the UK of course.

Had a big day in Toowoomba (2.5 Hrs drive each way) thankfully it's only once a year & the car got a good report, a spit 'n polish & is like a new pin again! (I'm minus several hundred + smackers as a result though!) Not enough time to stop at any watering holes along the way however

I'm off to the GP today & will have to explain my "keystone cops" episode at the Hospital & a little bit of weight added since then. (had a bad fall off the wagon - again!)

Hey - JR gets a bum rap don't he? hahahahaha!

Howdy all! Just back from the big city with groceries. Still have to put away the parsley and lemons. Had to look up how to store parsley. Not something I have used in the past, but I have a new cookbook - 365 ways to cook pasta. and it uses fresh parsley and lemons a lot. stocked up on pasta too. I like it with just some garlic and butter and maybe some cheese. Also got supplies to make chicken and noodles.

It is still in the 70Fs here, but cool down is predicted for next week.

    A cowboy song -

    Happy Sunday everybody!

Woke up to this one on the radio, & is for all the ex-pat Aussies out there.
Written by Oz country legend John Williamson & performed here by brother & sister duo Lee & Tania Kernaghan, individual Oz country stars in their own right.
"A Bushman Can't Survive" - hope you all enjoy it.

Words and Music by John Williamson

A city girl is happy with her friends and family life

Appreciates a wine with him at night
She tries to find the sparkle, she searches but it’s gone
With lots of love she hopes he’ll be alright

Her man has gone all quiet he’s not at ease
He doesn’t feel at home he’s hard to please
He gets itchy feet he’s tired of noises in the street
He needs to walk for hours through the trees

    CHORUS
No a bushman can’t survive on city lights
Opera rock and roll and height of heights
His moon shines on the silver brigalow
Shimmers down the inland river flow
Out there where the yellow belly bites

He’s working with his hands today on a building site
He can smell the Cypress on the floor
It takes him to a sandy ridge out amongst the pines
    No shearin’ no ploughin’ anymore

His kelpie dog is tired and fast asleep
Sick of searchin’ gardens for the sheep
His master doesn’t whistle tunes he’s not in the mood
His love for open spaces runs too deep

    CHORUS
He tries to please his woman the lady of his life
He’s standing at a party with a plate
She finds him on the balcony staring at the moon
An old familiar face he can relate

    CHORUS
His moon shines on the silver brigalow
Shimmers down the inland river flow
Out there where the yellow belly bites.
