Thread: Cocktails!!! and Music

It was a quiet weekend here and at my house. Finally got to see the Downton Abby finale! They held it for 2 weeks here. I would miss so much if it wasn't for streaming. My downfall - TV when and what I want!

We got 3 inches of snow last week and they have the nerve to predict this for Wednesday -

CHEYENNE – The first week of spring is expected to slip rapidly back into winter this week, as forecasters predict potentially heavy snow for Southeast Wyoming on Tuesday and Wednesday.

    Evening all,

had a busy few days. It was my son Ben's 30th birthday on Sunday. Spent Thursday & Friday making a cake. Then on Saturday the whole family (all 4) had the day out in Derbyshire visiting book shops. First it was Scarthin Books at Cromford, my favourite bookshop. Then we went onto Buxton stopping on the way at the Bookstore at Brierlow Bar. Ben managed to find a book about MotoGP so was well pleased. We had lunch in Buxton, Bacon & egg baps (or as we say in Mansfield, cobs) with big mugs of tea. It was a sunny day but as always in Buxton it was cold. WE had a good look around the shops and I managed to pick up a few 45's. and Ben got a Richard Pryor DVD. When I asked him why he got the DVD, Ben replied, because he's a legend.

Then on Sunday we had to visit relatives and finally went out for a meal in the evening. So altogether a great weekend.

Liner - "You and me" one of the singles I picked up. Liner were made up from The Farmer Brothers who had previously had ahit as Blackfoot Sue with "Standing in the road"

Another one I picked up was this one from Roy Wood "Goin' down the road"

Sal, Beardyman - top stuff 'n great to see Tim Minchin doing so well.
Trish, love the cartoons - unflattering I'm sure, but hilarious none the less!
Books, thanks for the choons - am unfamiliar with Blackfoot Sue, but I do remember this one, which was a big hit down here in the day!

    Howdy Folks!
So happy to report that I'm feeling much better, no nausea/cramps today, and I'm getting my appetite back, I think!
Some mighty fine choons there Old. I felt like getting my old rock n' roll dress out of the wardrobe (still fits!) and grabbing JR for a jive - he's just fed his face and is now sound asleep with his gob open .......

I also like Roy Wood (Just brill!) and Blackfoot Sue, Standing in the Road was always a very popular oldie on our juke-boxes when we kept the pubs.
Books, so glad you had a brill weekend with your son to celebrate his 30th birthday. You are lucky to live near to all those lovely places, I love Buxton. Hey, that cake sure looks good - got any left ?

Aww Wyo, more snow? We haven't had any here, just frost and bitterly cold winds. Can't comment on Downton Abbey as I seldom watch tv, OH makes up for that with his square eyes - I call the TV the 'One Eyed aid of Morpheus' ...lol!

Buttons, I will ask Laura about the stuff you mentioned, she's out tonight doing a Shabby Chic Vintage party, so I'll email her.
Interesting to hear about those lippy things - snog proof? I haven't had a decent snog since I was on holiday in Spain last year ....... viva espaņa!

Your lucky getting one last year Trish, Mike like JR is either sleeping or eating unless I stand and supervise ( bully him into doing something)

Same here buttons, I dread it when he has a day off work - he drives me nuts. I have to keep bullying JR into doing something - left to him he would plonk himself in front of the TV and just sit there. I can't be doing with him lazing about, life's too short, and there is always something that can be done. His prospects of full-time retiring from work are not looking good - if I can help it!

    Morning all

Glad to see you are nearly mended Trish.

I hope everyone with ailments recovers soon, including me!

I am fed up of being fed up,
I went for a walk in the woods the other day, first time I've walked out this year, painfull on my feet but well worth the pain to see all the daffodils getting ready to flower.

Since I last posted, I've become a Granddad again

Little Mikey now has a new sister called Bethany May. She was born on St.Patrick's Day and weighted in at 8lb 6oz.

Here are my latest grandchildren..Bethany left, Max right.

I better start saving for Christmas!

I've appreciated the great selection of choons in here, here are some from 1971, the year I was 21!

Snap Pos and I can vaguely remember crawling out of the Pez Espada on my 21st, that year, Probably ended up back at the Grafton flat out.
