How does Ebid compare to Ebay.HELP

I am seriuosly thinking of leaving ebay.I am a seller,Im new at it,but paypal keeps holding my funds ,i have 44 positive,and yet still a hold on my Money.Is this place for only selling brand new items?? can some of you give me some advice.thanks to all...

I have been on Ebay and Paypal for years and years. Have bought and sold tons of items. Paypal just but a 21 day hold on all my money for no reason recently and I expect they will keep it that way for life.

This is an auction house just like Ebay, buy, sell, new, used, etc etc.

Yes if you sell on feebay paypal will hold your funds.
If you sell on Ebid your fund will not be held. This is a good place to sell but there is work you have to do on your own here as in advertising you have to do your own. You dont get much bidding wars here so make sure you cover the prices you need to get for the item(s) you are selling. I have some friends on here for all over the world. I sell knives air guns. Do to the rules on ebid i cant sell my items on here.

Theres alot of friendly people that can help you just ask in a post and somebody will answer.
Buy the life time member ship and if i rember right theres no fees to pay when a item(s) sell.

Do people pay with other methods besides Paypal on this site?

I know for my listing I have to pay a final value fee of 2% if my item sales. I have the one that cost nothing to list and a thumbnail, I have the lifetime member as well.

Click the help button at the to right of any page, then look in the left hand column for FAQ's and hdlpful videos that explain a lot about eBid. Cruise around the forum threads and ask questions if you can't find the answers in the FAQ's....good luck!!

For seller+, I believe you are only charged 2% final value fee FVF

That was my thought...I have never had my funds held.

I havent had my funds held either, on ebay or here. But I have had the same account on Paypal since 2004, so I think I had used the account for a long time before the new policies came into place so maybe they didnt think it neccesary...

Ebid is, on the whole slower than ebay, so its well worth adding in a bit of extra promotion - using forum signatures, links on your social networks, etc etc. BUT on the other hand, you are not paying the crazy fees that ebay charges, so it all balances out. I also find the user-base on here a lot friendlier and more honest than on ebay as well, which always counts for a lot

If you are listing on here, though, you need to list items for the price you want for them, as there are few bidding wars and then you dont loose out.

With regards to air-guns and knives, you would be best off checking with ebid support for your listings: support@ebid.net.

I have been putting ' Ebid' tape on everything I sell , regardless of the site.... re selling knives and air guns... sadly I strongly believe that these should be very, very closely monitored... my son is in the Police force and with what he has seen as a direct result of these things... Well lets just say ' in the wrong hands' ....

OP, as others have said this is an auction house, but not much bidding so start your items at prices you are willing to accept. Make sure you have BINS on them so the listings are picked up by google.

@plantsfish, Yes, other types of payments are accepted here. Many use google checkout. There is a forum on how to set that payment system up. Just search the forums for google checkout to find it.

@crazyjays, This is a UK owned company so knives and such are not allowed on the site. Sorry you did not notice this before you joined since you stated in your post that you know you can't sell them here. Perhaps you have other items you can list.

I too have just started using the ebid parcel tape on all my packages that I ship. I think it is a great way to promote the site. Definitely gets the word out. I also use facebook groups to advertise my items which seems to be helping.
