Default Ebid better than Amazon for selling books

I sold a book on Amazon today for 1p. Because of the Amazon selling strategy that is what you have to do.

250 gm packet for which Amazon charge £2.80 for postage, only costs £1.90 to post

Sounds great until I look in payments to see that Amazon take off £1.35 for their charges!

I cancelled the transaction as I would have lost money on just posting it.

    Now compare Ebid.

I list the book at a reasonable price, £0.50 is typical in my Ebid listings.

I do not charge a flat £2.80 postage for all books, I weigh and measure them all and set the postage at what it costs me.

So everything is realistic. Books that are large letter are much cheaper than if I listed them at 1p on Amazon!

And best of all, Ebid and Paypal together are 10% of Amazon's charges.

Bill, you are wise to look around and compare.
I have noticed that you are one of the recently published hot sellers here on eBid, and many congratulations come from me.

There are price wars raging on amazon as we speak!
Kindle and their like are squeezing real books out.
Booksellers are being forced into cut throat competition for the 'faithful' who believe in real books.

Yes we can give good deals to our buyers, but when the big boys take advantage of the manipulation of postage costs, bulk buying of books from charities by weight, contracts with the post office for cheap postage.

Then small sellers are doomed. I've seen the writing on the wall.

to be a bookseller now is a labour of love and not really a profitable pursuit!
