I'm furious - please check on your Google exemptions !

I'm really angry and would advise all sellers that have been granted a Google exemption to go and check in their stores. This is the email I have just sent to support.

Hi eBid,

I applied for all five of my stores to be exempted and was granted exemption on all five in September.
I just happened to go into my jewellery store to check something and to my horror saw that there was no exemption marked on it. I'm really angry as this is the busiest time of the year for gift type items like jewellery and I don't know how long my items have not been feeding to Google. I've had no notification of this happening either from you or Google. I'm quite horrified that this can happen to somebodies business without so much as a word and I should like an explaination. I have changed nothing in my store since the exemption was given so why has it been taken away ?

Below is a copy of my email saying my exemption for this store had been permitted.

It just seems everything is against sellers at the moment. Not only do we have a recession to battle against but we get all this carp on top of it too. I'm off to bed and hope I get an answer in the morning.

Thanks for the warning. I just checked and all four of our stores still have the exception notice.

One more thing to check every morning now.

It does seem there have been some serious glitches popping up lately.

It's a looooong thread Magz but worth reading as it tells you all about it and how to get your stores exempted. Not sure it's worth all that hassle of trying to toe the line if exemptions are just going to vanish without warning. Will have to see what answer eBid gives.

Hi Plantsfish, Don't worry you are fairly new to the site and it takes a while to get yourself established as it's a small site. All sites are being affected by this new Google business where you have to put brand names or product codes on your listings and not just eBid. If you sell things that haven't got codes then you have to apply to Google for an exemption to show up on 'Google Products', I'm just miffed that I wasn't told that my exemption on one of my stores had gone.

My advice to you would be take your time to read all the helpful selling tips here on the forums. For starters I would do a good 'about me' page to give buyers confidence and I can only see three of your eight listings here in the U.K.

I have not bothered with the exemption and it does not appear to have affected my sales. Most of the item I have sold in the last month have not had bar codes yet some how people have found them. When I have checked for any of my items on Google / Google shopping I have always had mixed results anyway. So all I do now is, if the item has a barcode I will enter it, if not as in the case of lots of the books I list then I can not.
