No, it's nothing to do with either the spreadsheet or Ninja bulk uploaders.

If you use any characters that you have typed with the 'shift' key held (" £ & * etc.) or any of the extra ascii characters on the wysywig editor, you should check your listings. If you have typed them out in full in HTML (" etc.) then everything should be fine.

There is no way for admin to know which items have been affected so each member with affected listings will have to contact them individually.

Admin's silence is contributing to the problem; they should be alerting ALL selling members to check their listings.
Yes, they should alert sellers if they have a solution to the problem. It is too bad data back-up was not available much further back. I still think the alert should be generalized to the larger eBid community via their "Updates Thread" and the monthly Newsletter. Just don't think having a go at them in the forums over this issue is the way to go. If I'm wrong, I stand corrected.

For a seller I think you would have to check each item individually. There are queries admin could run on the listing database that would flag up some problem listings. I doubt there is a query (or set of queries) that would flag up all though - as the damage done is not consistent across all affected listings.

A backup from further back would just be even more out of date. They should have made a backup just before doing the changes on the 25th.

Very few members use the forums, fewer still read the updates thread and not everyone gets the newsletter (even those who have checked the tick box to receive it). It needs to go out on a dedicated email.

I appreciate that I'm being a pain but this is the most serious problem to have hit eBid and admin need to deal with it and be SEEN to be dealing with it. In this situation, silence is *not* reassuring.

    Thanks Jewels and Astral.

My word, Jewels ... with all your listings ... what a nightmare for you. I've been shopping your items for my next order and will let you know if I find anything that is still messed up.

Right after I posted to this thread I also C/C/P'd my reply to support@ebid.net and just received this response:

    Hi Mary,

We've run an overwrite of your items with a backup copy from before the corruption occurred. We hope this fixes everything for you.

    Best Wishes

I'm off now to go check those three listings I mentioned in my earlier post and see what's up...ta-ta!

That isnt an option for me I dont think.

A few weeks ago, I amended a couple of thousands listings and lowered their prices by around 20%.
Would depend when the corruption occurred.

The corruption occurred 25/10 and the backup was made 01/10.

Thanks. There shouldn't be any without descriptions but there are some (around 600) without photographs within the templates.

Even more worryingly. Why aren't there daily backups?
