If you think it matters that much you might be better off moving to a dot com site, because I really don't think it's going to happen. I've read stuff by the owner of the dot com and the numbers are astronomical.

It's not relevant in this case, it's because the site is already owned and making money for its owner, so it would be a private sale not just a registration, and one that needed to compensate the owner for a healthy current income.

I think what he is referring to is dot com is used more in the US than dot net. So if a person is looking for ebid and does not have a url, they would be more inclined to put in ebid dot com. Apparently in Europe dot net is more common.

No, in Europe we each have our own home extension - .co.uk, .fr, .au etc

.net is one of the general extensions to provide more urls as the net has grown.
