Well I don't know, I think it may have got some of us to think about marketing in a wider sense.

Yes the buyers and sellers from my signups are buying and listing,

Yes eBid is earning lots from my seller plus lifetime signups,

Yes some of my signups are active users on the forum and some have large store's.

Yes the last two months have been bad.

I have a headache. why should anyone care if i bring over 3 hundred thousand hits to ebid every 6 months, or almost a million searches a year. or that i was developing a eBid android phone app.

IN FACT! thats it , had enough.

If I don't see you through the week. I'll see you through the window.

Hope your head gets to feeling better Jimbo. I think you are doing a fabulous job here promoting and supporting the site. I watch both you and Haldaas81, and admire you both. Trying to study what you two do, in hopes of doing the same. Well get some rest, it will help you feel better.

well jimbo im glad you said all of the above i hope that clears this up as far as benifiting the site goes, if its true your vindicated by the fact it can be checked by the right people your continued presence is vindication enough for me, i still think peoples concerns over large amounts of buddy points being earned was right to be aired and im glad you answered

eBid & eBid alone made the decisions on how buddy points can be earned.

As long as they are earnt legitimately, how anybody chooses to earn them is entirely up to them.

Some choose to promote eBid off site & earn them that way,
they add their buddy link to their own webpages, forums, blogs, emails, & social networking sites.

Others earn them by adding a link to their listings, to encourage new members to sign up via it, as well as by those gained by buying & selling.

Many do a bit of all of the above.

Jimbo, hope your headache goes so you can get some sleep.

I think it's really bad that you feel you need to ask the guys to remove your buddy points, you've earned them fairly, & you have every right to use them.

In all the years you've been here, you've put yourself out to help not only the Site, but other members as well & I'm sure I'm not the only one who appreciates that, I also appreciate the tools you've spent time developing.
I haven't got a phone that would use an andoid app, but I know that it is something that many users have been requesting.

I really hope all this doesn't make you give up on eBid, as you would be sorely missed.

As for the "&" thing, it's not supposed to make any difference,

"&" on its own is bad HTML/XHTML, whether on a webpage or in a link, so the WYSIWYG editor
    changes it to "&"
according to the people that set the standards that is correct, & the browser will interpret it properly.

Becky I just looked at one of your listings, although the
    link in it says

If you let your mouse hover over it it displays as
    Code:
    http://uk.ebid.net/perl/normal.cgi?ref=197704&mo=register-main
so it does appear to work correctly.

Maybe it would be better to request the Guys change the buddy link to make it more user friendly in line with the other url changes they have made over the last couple of years, that way they could lose the "&" altogether.

Bulk editing to replace the existing one (hopefully the existing link isn't too long to use bulk edit), with the user friendly one, should put that problem to bed once and for all.
