I just read the whole thread

It looks like I won't be getting google exposure anymore

Their new 'compare' crap is absolutely worthless

google shopping has just been going downhill anyhow

I just noticed tonight that they have relegated it to being under a dropdown of 'more'

Looks like they're making room for a new search engine to compete
    My clutter

I don't play the reserve game

I have now applied for exemption for 3 of my 5 stores. (The other 2 dont't need exemption). The 2 of the 3 stores have a few non-exempt items but all these have barcodes, ISBNs or Brands/MPNs. Like others I would like to know if and when my applications have been successful.

Well I've had my exemption accepted on my own website and this is the reply I got from Google.

Thank you for requesting an exemption for unique product identifiers.
We're sending this email to inform you that your exemption has been
approved. Your items will not be affected by this requirement. However,
items may continue to be flagged in the data quality tab even after your
account is exempted from the unique product identifier requirement.

Additionally, please continue including valid unique product identifiers
in your data feed for all items which have them.

Please let me know if you have any further questions or concerns.

I find it rather curious that eBid say we can't have any coded items in an exempt shop because of the paragraph I've marked in red ??? An explaination would be good please Gazza.

IMHO I dont think it matters if you have mixed bar code and non bar code listings in the same store the feeds are as i remember are per item not shop so will just mean the the one's listed with out barcodes may not turn up in searchs.
but with unique tittles and good meta tags in your listings they could still turn up anyway.
Does anyone know if they have been made exempt on ebid it said on request form that we would here back within 3 working days is support gonna let us know? does any know?

If you have antiquarian books in your eBid store then apply for exemption. You will be able to list normal books with that have ISBNs on them in the same store OK, just make sure you do add the ISBN when listing the auction.

There could be problems if you have an exempt eBid Store and list items that have ISBNs located on them without adding the ISBN when listing.

Thank you for that Gazza that is a relief. I don't know about anyone else but I was under the impression we couldn't do that as you said :- It would be an idea to split into separate eBid Stores items that you wish exemption for. If you applied and were accepted and then started listing items in an exempt eBid Store obviously not exemptable then that will cause problems.

Yippee ... trots off to check up on the last ISBNs and to get the book store exemption application done.

No doubt admin are having to learn how to interpret Google's new rules as much as we are. There is no reason to assume that their crystal ball is any clearer than ours.

I would have 'assumed ' that Google would have given their business partners clear instruction on such matters but this doesn't seem to be the case. I was in no way casting aspersions as you seem to be implying.
I'm just happy that the matter has now been sorted out and I can get on with my business.

I personally have stopped using Google because they are a real pain. If I type in 2 words I get things based on each word typed instead of those that have both words in title. Yahoo and Bing both seem to give me better results in searching. Hopefully they will be considered in the solutions to the problem.
Wow, I'm confused too. I'm in deep doo-doo here as I don't even know what the ISBN number is! Is that the number under the barcode?

The ISBN is usually on the back just above the barcode on lots of modern books but sometimes it is on an inner page at the front where they show all the publishing details.
