    Default international shipping

    Hello,

UK book buyers...I am just wondering if are you willing to pay the prices that it cost to ship a book to you from the U.S. or do you avoid United States auctions? I am considering offering my book selection to the UK, but it just seems to me that the extra work might be a waste of my time due to the cost to ship....

    Any comments welcome.

    Thank you

To me it would depend on the overall price for the book

Depends on the book, and how soon I want it..........also, I have an advantage in US/UK purchases, as sometimes I order things from the states (where I'm from originally), have them sent to one of my girls, and pick them up when I go over to visit!!

That is also I have done - bought and had it shipped to a US address for later collection. By offering shipping to other countries you get more visibility too

I buy books from Europe, Asia, etc all the time and also ship to these places. I only ship expensive books and use Express Mail.
Airmail and priority take too long and are not safe nor secure. Find out yourself the hard way like moi.

I buy books from the US. Primarily history books for me. I often get books on medieval Scottish history (The subject i did my degree in) from the US cheaper than thay are available here. I think because here they are used by university students on their courses so the prices are kept artificially high. So I would say that it maybe isnt worth offerring bestsellers as these will be available locally - but anything else YES

I've bought from the US, but only unusual or fairly rare books. I don't mind paying the post and even a little more for really good packing.
Having said that, I'm not looking for any American editions right now.

I list six options for all books I sell from the UK. It is automatic for me to weigh a book and then look up all prices from my handy chart when I list :

    1. Collect
    2. Next day UK
    3. Economy UK
    4. Airmail Europe
    5. Airmail Rest of the World
    6. Surface Rest of the World

I get a surprisingly high proportion of sales from Europe, US, Canada, Australia.
I got feedback from one buyer that they felt better about paying airmail when they saw that there was another option at half the price but taking six weeks longer.

Price is not an issue for me if I want a book, but delivery time is important, and a number of US suppliers take over two weeks to deliver. For that reason, if a book is not available in the UK, I will check Hong Kong and Singapore because a book will arrive in five or six days at a lower postage cost than from US.
