Red face My first post and I have questions! (already!)

Hi all. I am new to the forum world, so please forgive if I happen to be asking questions that are already answered somewhere. I've searched around and I cannot find information about my inherited china.
There is no stamp, only three little lines impressed into the porcelain and glazed over.
This tea set was given to me by my grandmother. My Aunt says that it was with our ancestors who were among the settlers of Jamestown, VA.
This same Aunt also told me that the "family silver" she gave me was VERY old (1800's) and valuable. I was able to conduct my own research to find it was created in the 1950's. So, while I love her dearly, I'm a bit skeptical of her Jamestown story.
I'd like to know if anyone can refer me to a post or website where i can learn to identify my tea set.
If someone knows anything about this set in particular, even better!
I'd like to know when it was made, where, by whom and ultimately place a value. I'd like to know if I should insure!

I thank you in advance for any information you're willing to provide.
I'm going to try to upload a couple of photos.

It's cute! No idea of the age, but I'd be dubious about the early Jamestown thing......reminds me of something my mom had from the 1930's...........The mark might be an M, an E, or an U I or an I N....ore possibly a slip up when it was put in the kiln....do the other pieces have it too? Several people on here know a lot about pottery and china.......hopefully they will have some ideas. Good luck.
    Ta-Ta for now!

    Why Thank you,
I think it is a nice little set. I treasure it because my Grandmother Irene loved it. I took some more photos of the other pieces. Maybe someone will recognize a familiar characteristic. The three little marks are only on the cups. The creamer has two similar marks and another possible marking. I really just noticed this one, it could be an imperfection in the glaze or clay, but it could be a deliberate marking. I traced over with a pencil so it would show up on the photo. Hmmm. I love a good mystery!
Thank you, HerMajesty, for your reply, I think I'm going to like it here at eBid!
    Cheers!

Looks like 1930s to me bang in the middle of Art nouveau and Art deco!
