That being the case, does an 'upload' back to eBid involve only the 'text' data, or are the associated image files uploaded yet again as well. (I'm thinking here of the 'size' of the transmitted data).

The image links in the exported data file are pointing into the 'cloud' and not to your PC, so I would expect (never actually having done it) that no image files would be uploaded; the existing images would be re-used off the web.

However, if you edited your original NL data and uploaded that again, then the images would likely come from your PC - as the links would be to your local images.

I've never tried that approach either, but like you say, you'd expect the existing images to be re-used.
This could mean big savings on data - if dealing with many hundreds (or thousands) of listings.
