Thread: New Seller looking for advice

Default New Seller looking for advice

    Hello eBidders,

I am a new seller to eBid after turning by back on the horrible feebay! I sold there for three years before I decided enough was enough and so I am now determined to give eBid a go.
I am a 3rd Gen antique dealer & sold antique, vintage & collectable items on feebay, I sold on the .com site mainly to Americans & Australian dealers, running 7 day auctions finishing on a Sunday in batches of 100 - 200 items, all starting at 99c with no reserve.
Just thought I would post hear and ask your advice on whether this technique would work here or to see if you have any tips you may feel would be benificial for me?

    Hi and welcome to eBid.

Your items sound nice and auction listings with up to 10 relists per listing will move your items up the page. A big difference between eBid and Feepay is that there aren't nearly as many bidding wars on eBid, (with the exception of YDC charity auctions), so it's a good idea to start your items at the lowest price you'd be willing to accept for them.

Also, it's a good idea to fill in your About Me page with a bit about your selling background, history and shipping/return policies, as many buyers like to know a bit about the seller before buying.

Any questions, just ask and welcome aboard!

Best wishes for many sales to all,

Welcome! Suesjools has some good eBid advice for you, I see. Yes, I would agree that you should start your auctions at the lowest price that you would be comfortable accepting.

    :-)

I think that as soon as people start getting "bargains" from ebid, the word will spread like wildfire. That will bring more buyers and then more bidders for the auctions.

But as suejools says, it's best to start the price at the lowest that is acceptable to you - at least to begin with.

I put my auctions start price at what I am happy to sell at as the lowest price. The buy it now price appeals to those people who want the item and are not prepared to wait for up to 10 days for a lower price.

The BIN price is the one that shows on Google so if it is too high they will never look at the items to see they can bid and possible get at a lower price.

I've had a number of buyers via Google who have bought at the higher price.

    @TheAntique hunter

    Welcome to ebid.
    All good advice.
And we all need to realise that sellers cannot come to ebid and expect the same level of sales within a few weeks.
Ebid does not have anywhere near as many members as their old site.
The thing is to stay on ebdi for the long haul, we are growing, and to buy a few things on here to see how it works and to get some feedback and help the others.

I have too, but some put the BIN so much higher than the bid that people won't look unless the BIN is what they consider reasonable. Just wanted others to be aware that lookers on Google don't see both prices.
