Default Panda Round 0.999 Silver Expert Opinion Needed Please

    Hello All,

As any who are familiar with the Panda silver bullion round series knows, the obverse design changes annually, and there are variations to the date size. However, most of the Panda rounds I have seen carry the 10 Yuen marking. I have seen some Panda's marked with the 0.999 Ag (Silver)1 oz. marking but lacking the 10 Yuen marking.

Question: Are the Panda rounds that lack the 10 Yuen mark fraudulent or copy/replica Panda rounds? Are these rounds 0.999 Ag?

    Thanks for any imput.

Thanks for answering this call for information Poppa! I figured there had to be someone on eBid that knows about these Panda coins. We have so many coin sellers crossing over into eBid. I did locate a company that specializes in the Panda series, I plan to call or email them.

as a general rule, most legal tender coins have a denomination, ie 10 Yuan on the China Mint 1 oz silver pandas.

Any silver Panda without a denomination is not a coin but a medal and not legal tender

    Silver Pandas have a 10 Y for 10 Yuan

silver pandas started in 1983 with 27 gram coins, 1986 was world wildlife fund WWF coins, 1987 first of the 1 oz coins, 1988 none made.
1989 first of the 1 oz bu bullion silver panda

Thank you, Are the Panda rounds that lack the 10 Y silver? If so what percentage; and if not what metals do they contain?

If a medal is marked 999, it may be genuine or not genuine. I cannot give you a blanket answer.

    999 means 999/1000 pure.

    Some couinterfeits are silver plated.

Suggestion: only buy from a professional who specializes in China Mint issues as many coin dealers do not know and get fooled

Don't get greedy. You get what you pay for. If silver spot is $35 and somebody is selling a one oz silver coin for $20 something is wrong.

China Mint silver Pandas are red hot as the number of coins produced is small and there are over 2 billion people in China so folks are investing.

Prices area going up up and away.
