    Yes hush77hush ....

    There's definately fakes around ....
The ones I've seen are printed on a slightly 'thicker' card and are not as 'glossy' in appearance.
They also had quite a lot of 'loose shavings' hanging off the card where they'd been cut to shape.

If Goth can get her hands on any cards that have been purchased through a reputable retail outlet, then she'll have a 'reference' to go by, and the differences will hopefully be apparent.

There may of course be fakes from other sources - All I know is that my stock (the Genuine ones), were bought from a reputable outlet.

The fakes I encountered - (and which were promptly returned), were from a cheap disposal store.
They were really hard to spot at first because the cardboard presentation box had one 'genuine' card showing through the 'display window', but all the non genuine cards were behind. (So you didn't realize until you got home and opened the box).

    Hey steve
yeah when you look at some of the Yu-Gi-Oh one up close you can tell they are abit differant.
but was getting differant info from the collectors some saying that the card have to have a silver hologram on the front which most now do then some are saying the hologram has to move in the light or else it is fake. some collectors are saying the cards are real if they say konami on the back and some are saying they are fake if they have konami on the back I am not to sure if even the collectors know what is what now.

Hey hush, wow that sure is a lot of different views. Confusing eh?

If I was a 'serious' collector I'd have to look a lot deeper into it all.
But as it is - I'm just stocking a small range or cards at the moment - and so I get by with a fairly basic understanding,
and I'm still finding my way a bit.

Hey - you've got quite a range of comix I notice!

At least with books & magazines I know where I am.

Maybe I should dump the Pokemon & Yu Gi Oh, at a Charity Shop & just list the others.

Are fakes a problem with all types or just the Japanese game based ones?

Hee Hee - That cracks me up - very funny Goth ........ ! ! !

Hey look - really I wouldn't worry too much about this.

The chances that you've got fakes is realistically pretty remote .....

Just get your hands on one of your friend's or relative's kid's 'geniuine' cards - and compare the quality.
Or better still - just waltz into a reputable 'Game' store - or whatever you have over there ...... surely they could eye ball them and reassure you.

The Pokemon, all look, as in printing & spelling, symbol size, & feel the same
so they are either all real or all fakes.

    The Yu-Gi-OH!
7 I'm certain are fakes, the jury is out on the rest, I think I'll need to learn a lot more about them
if I'm going to list them

    Oh well - that's a good start.
If all the Pokemon are on the same type of card base and look very consistant in the printing,
then like you say - either all good or all fake !

But yeah it's difficult when you come across such items from an unknown source. ie: from a boot fair.
Not a bad free bonus though!

They were packing up at the time, I think he gave me that box by mistake, when he intended to give me a box of hardback's.
Definitely not complaining, just struggling with the information overload.

No more numpty questions today, got to sort out dinner & get ready for work.

goth just found some sites for you

    http://yugico.com/search/?s=five

this helps id and price yu-gi-oh cards but if you put card info in and it dose not bring up exact info to the same as the card in you hand then the card may be fake.

    http://www.silverbacksmonkeyhouse.co...24.html?page=1

this one for the doc who cards gives you all the info you need regarding price and how rae a card is.

    Hi
Your best bet would be to find a Murray's guide to Cigarette & other trade cards Guide.
