    Default Some explanation is needed...

.. to new members who end up with a strikethru. I understand that no email is sent explaining why this has happened or what the member needs to do to regain good standing on ebid. This is incredibly unfriendly towards new members and I believe it drives people away. I would certainly not return to a site which suspended my account without explanation. It has happened recently to two buyers who bought and paid immediately. Such people need to be cherished not driven away!

I agree. This would be helpful to not so new members also.

I agree we need to cherish our new buyers.

This is only a small part of the problem. As discussed on the other thread where this came up, it's not just newbies being suspended who are confused and possibly upset. Sellers are cancelling what could be legitimate sales because they are alarmed by the apparent severity of the problem. Being told your buyer has been suspended sounds worrying, and we know that sellers are cancelling sales and blackballing the buyer for fear of whatever mysterious problem has triggered the situation. If it's a simple address check, this is obviously nonsense and is damaging the site's reputation and losing people sales.

There needs to be a two-tier (or more) system of suspensions, so that trivial problems can be solved quickly (and quite possibly transparently) while sales continue to go through; only potentially serious problems should be triggering such alarm bells as now happens with any silly little thing.

I could not agree with you more. We certainly do not want to run off sellers or buyers.

I am new also and so far just trying to get accustomed to everything. I have not listed because I have not found any auctions with bids or do the bids just not show? If that's the case that's very confusing. A few items I viewed listed at low prices that are fantastic sellers for me were listed for months.I couldn't find any completed sales either. So , I'm figuring I will have to adjust the way I'm used to doing things and not start my auctions at .99 or items just take longer to sell on this site.I wasn't going to have a store but is that something I should reconsider ? I have asked a few questions but have no received any replies yet. Thanks

Please don't respond to this sort of thing - the post has nothing to do with the thread subject and the poster has plenty of other places they can have that conversation (if you really think there's any point). I know any thread can swerve to any subject on a forum, but where it's a legitimate site request it's unnecessary (and ill-mannered to the OP) to hijack a thread like this for yet another whine. The poster's just trolling now.

Thank you, Kim! Once again you save me from being rude!

I hadn't considered the over-anxious seller when I started this thread, probably because each time it has happened to me, the buyer has already paid.

If this problem is not considered by management, I will start to believe that they are only interested in advertising revenue and membership subscriptions and don't really want a successful online sales business!
