Hello jewlsgems ..... Yes your 0.66p approach is the way to go! (lightweight items).
In Australia we can send a
    C4 size envelope (324 x 229 mm) up to 2cm thick and up to 125grams - for $1.25 (National).
However, sending the same envelope (C4 size) overseas (UK for example) costs $4.50 (International).

Jewlsgems, I notice you've been setting up your store, buying some nice artwork and taking some artistic pictures - good for you. Tell me please, (getting back to the postage thing for a moment), how much does it cost you to send one of your (under 100gram) items overseas, say to Australia? I'd be interested to know...

And as regards that 'hat' - yes, the West Australian sun can be very 'intense' (seems more intense in recent years), but that picture was taken a few years ago now.
Maybe I should 'update' it ...

In Canada, similar to Australia in size of country and low population density with large distances, the Canada Post rates are (sorry for the long detailed post):

    ($1 Can = $1.04 USD = $0.99 AUD = 0.64 GBP = 0.73 EUR)

    1) Small items less than 2 cm thick and under 500 grams

    Lettermail - Oversize within Canada - 100, 200, 300, 400, 500 grams (2 cm thickness limit) is $1.25, $2.06, $2.85, $3.25, $3.50. (+ 5 to 15% sales tax depending which province you live in) (1-2 weeks)
Light Packet - USA - 100, 250, 500 grams (2 cm thickness limit) is $2.36, $4.92, $7.20 (+ 5 to 15% sales tax depending which province you live in but only on first two rates under $5) (1-2 weeks)
Light Packet - International - 100, 250, 500 grams (2 cm thickness limit) is $4.60, $9.25, $14.40 (+ 5 to 15% sales tax depending which province you live in but only on first rates under $5) (1-2-3 weeks)

    2) Larger Parcels - over 2 cm thick and/or over 500 grams – under 2 kg (gets complicated now)

Expedited Parcel Canada – all items up to 30 kg – from $7 local to $15+ for 1 kg, then based on weight/volumetric weight and rates get very high (1-2 weeks)

    Small Packet USA Air –250, 500, 1000 grams is $7.46, $9.90, $15.36 (no sales tax over $5) (1-2-3 weeks)

Small Packet USA Surface –250, 500, 1000 grams is $5.85, $8.35, $12.41 (no sales tax over $5) (not recommended as too slow 2-3-4+ weeks)

Small Packet International Air – 250, 500, 1000, 2000 grams is $10, $20, $37, $55 (approximate rates as varies by world region) (no sales tax over $5) (1-2-3 weeks)

Small Packet International Surface – 250, 500, 1000, 2000 grams is $7, $10, $16, $25 (approximate rates as varies by world region) (no sales tax over $5) (not recommended as too slow 4-6-8+ weeks)

Over 1 kg for USA, then you must use expensive Expedited Parcel USA ($15+) but you get some tracking and Delivery Confirmation.

    3) Larger Parcels - over 2 cm thick - over 2 kg (gets complicated now)

Over 1 kg for USA, then you must use expensive Expedited Parcel USA ($15+) (same as above)

Over 2 kg for International (excluding USA), Xpresspost $50+ (Air service select countries like Europe, Japan, Australia, etc), International Parcel Air (rare service) and Surface (common) $50+ (remaining countries not serviced by Xpresspost)

Generally, Canada Post rates are high within the country (bad for ecommerce), reasonable for USA and high for International. Courier rates are very high.

It seems to me that you have some good Small Parcel rates within Australia. No small parcels within Canada. Countries like the UK and many European countries are very densely populated so I would assume rates are better.
