I had the same thing happen couple of years ago. My lungs were never going to get any better.
And yet they took me off the sick with no explanation at all!
I went home from there sick with worry and making myself ill.
So when I went to the local DHSS with a letter from my doctor disputing the decicion I found out
what they knew but they never told me. That is, because I had reached 60 years of age I was eligible for pension credits instead. Which as it turned out was substantially more money anyway.
Cloud ,aggro = silver lining!
The government raises approximately £140.5 billion in income tax receipts. Social security benefits cost approximately £164.7 billion.
They also raise billions through VAT which we all pay.
Fuel duty.
Taxs on tabacco & alcohol. and loads more.
So the Gov is chasing so called 'benifit cheats' to save a few bob. MMMMMMMMMMMMMMmmmmmmmmmm!
Why are they not pursuing the greedy bankers etc who caused this mess in the first place. Well the answer is they cant persue them and bail them out with all our money at the same time.
So let's dig out that relieable old scapegoat the 'benefit cheat' and if a few genuine people fall under the axe that's tough luck.
At least the hoi poloi will be distracted from the real culprit for awhile!
I've had a congenital deformity from birth called Ectrodactyly and have worked all my life until I took early retirement 8 years ago. I admit I get a pretty good Local Authority pension, but due to that I am unable to claim any form of unemployment benefits and pay full tax on my pension. Also my disability is such that questions on any of the benefit claim forms do not apply and I cannot claim any disability allowances. That does not really worry me as I do not have to struggle moneywise due to my pension. But I must admit I get miffed when I see all those that get handouts, concessions etc for legally abusing the system. The law on benefits as it stands is a complete arse and needs total revision - but obviously that wont happen in my lifetime.
Even the new Old Age Pension they are talking about bringing in sometime 2014/15 will probably elude me as I become 65 in March 2014 just before the start of the new year so I will be classed as one of the OLD pensioners not entitled to the new rates.
End of rant.
