This all issues are not about buyers is about sellers….
And the law is always on the side of brand names because is ‘’the law’’…..

I agree 1000%. I don't buy brand names in anything. If I like it, and the price is right, and I want it I will buy it. I don't care to impress anyone with the name brand and I don't care to pay for advertising. My money has to get me the most for the bang for the buck. If you are concerned about these brand names then notify the company that is being hurt and let them fight their own battles.

This whole thread is beginning to sound like the ones on that other site where there is far tooooo much attention paid to other peoples listings and not enough attention paid to their own business.

Of course there will always be people who don't know where the money from sales of counterfeits goes. Interpol and the FBI have already confirmed that Al Qaeda has used funds gained by the sale of counterfeit goods, and that part of the money from the first world trade center bombing was raised by the manufacture and sale of counterfeit goods that were sold on Canal Street in New York.

Some people don't know that they are selling goods that are often made by children who have been enslaved and being kept in deplorable conditions to make the goods, or that in some cases counterfeit goods are poisonous, like the counterfeit melamine infant formula and pet food from China a couple of years ago.

I don't currently have a selling business on ebid, so nobody needs to worry that I am not paying enough attention to it.
I'm paying attention to other people's listings because I am a buyer who doesn't want to get scammed, and I was looking through the listings.

So if it's not your problem, why worry about it? Some people do happen to care.

With ya all the way on that one.

Someone wants to pay me to advertise their brand - they can pay me to do it - not charge me treble the price (or more)

As the starter of the thread that sounds awfully like you just told me to go away and mind my own business.

As a Almost former Ebay seller.... I did list a coach bag...but did list it as maybe designer inspired. Got it as a gift, and yes my first bid on Ebid. So , tell me , what if buyer says not as listed? Coach is in heading...cost to buyer $25. In description says I dont know if its real or not.
But my family buys alot of bags from Coach handbags from outlet mall in Grove City ,Pa...Also juicy Couture
How are you a specialist with real bags? you dont list your credtibility? you just say you know real bags.

The whole point is do these faux handbags hurt the credibility of the eBid auction site?
I myself see no problem whatsoever other then I believe it to be illegal selling a handbag with a Gucci label on it which may not be a real Gucci as long as it is clearly stated it is not a real Gucci handbag.
I am not all that familiar with handbags and will never claim to be an expert but if you see a handbag you like I would think you would buy it if the price is right. If you feel you must spend $300 or more on a handbag because it can be verified to be an authentic handbag well go for it. I think it's pretty silly when you can get the same quality item at a much less price by eliminating a name. Please don't post the name brands are better quality, they are not. They are all made in the same place. The bags with flaws or blemishes become the look alikes. Chances are withing a week of owning the bag you will scuff it anyway but it has nothing to do with quality.
6 years ago Nike shoes cost $.25 to make and were selling for over $100.00 no idea what they are today. Sure we care about others making these shoes overseas. Children making these shoes get paid squat while the company just soaks us for big $$$.

Here on eBid and every other auction site there is a tremendous problem with fake items and the folks who list them as authentic should be removed from the sites and reported to authorities.
Everyone here on eBid works extremely hard to build this site and build their sales. It's a shame to think all that hard work gets wiped out when a fraudulent seller is found on this site.
Hat's off to eBid for requesting backup to the Pandora bracelts listed a few days ago. Not that the bracelets were fake but it's nice to see they are checking. Now if they can start getting rid of the pirated DVD's sold here we can relax a little more knowing more and more of our sellers are legit and can prove it.

Cool Re: I'm seeing a lot of counterfeit purses

Well….I just says ‘’Read the Law’’ for about brand names items….(Doesn't matter where brand company make own product...Read the Law....)
And read all and to the end and you will find clearly explanation why brand name can go after the seller if is broke this law…
And doesn’t matter what anybody can say, nothing is count if you broke this Law…
    AMEN…….

If you are referring to me I never claimed to be a specialist. I did list some resources for authentication that ARE considered to be experts. However, with some of the fakes it is pretty darn obvious. Misshapen letters in the logo, wrong font, etc. And I also know enough to know that it's illegal to sell counterfeits. It's not illegal to sell real items that came from the authorized store's outlets.

The difference between designer-inspired and counterfeit is this: designer-inspired items do not claim to be made by a certain company, and do not have that company's name on them.

If an item has a company's name on it and was not made by that company, it is a counterfeit. No credibility needed for that one, it is just good common sense.

And in my opinion, those bags you are selling, both of which have the Coach logo on them, were not made by Coach.
Just my opinion, no credibility needed to have an opinion.

Again, fakes are illegal. Does a site riddled with illegal items hurt that site's credibility? Depends I guess on whether the people looking are law abiding citizens or crooks.

As far as the quality, I guess it's easy to say that the quality is all the same while also saying that you don't know much about them. I do use and carry handbags, and I know that there are in fact many different levels of quality available.

I'd personally rather have a nice leather bag made in an authorized factory that is actually good quality than a plastic knockoff any day. I'd also rather have the real thing with a few scuffs than a new fake. And the companies who get knocked off wouldn't be in business if many other people didn't feel the same way.

And also fakes are illegal. Check out the department of Immigration & customs Enforcement if you don't believe it. Otherwise known as ICE.

Here is a link that someone may find useful:
    http://www.ice.gov/news/releases/101...washington.htm

Here is just a bit for people who don't like to click on links:

WASHINGTON - Seizure orders have been executed against 82 domain names of commercial websites engaged in the illegal sale and distribution of counterfeit goods and copyrighted works as part of Operation In Our Sites v. 2.0, as part of an ongoing investigation by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

"The sale of counterfeit U.S. brands on the Internet steals the creative work of others, costs our economy jobs and revenue and can threaten the health and safety of American consumers," said ICE Director John Morton. "The protection of intellectual property is a top priority for Homeland Security Investigations and the National Intellectual Property Rights Coordination Center. We are dedicated to protecting the jobs, the income and the tax revenue that disappear when counterfeit goods are trafficked."

The coordinated federal law enforcement operation targeted online retailers of a diverse array of counterfeit goods, including sports equipment, shoes, handbags, athletic apparel and sunglasses as well as illegal copies of copyrighted DVD boxed sets, music and software.

Oh, and for the ladies who buy a fake and think that no one can tell...well, people can tell.
