Some new members are getting this message as a popup and panicking. As I did when I first joined, because 24 hours is absolutely not a reasonable time limit. They have no way of knowing it's not enforced. I know that for a fact because I have left questions for sellers that were never answered and they are still selling with no problems. No big deal to me personally, I just didn't pursue buying the items.
The help section has this: "All Q&A responses must be made within a reasonable length of time from the time of the original question. Unanswered questions will deem the seller and thus the auction to be inactive." Not quite as harsh, but still fuzzy and causing concern, judging by the posts by new members.
When we had our stores on vacation hold a few months ago, I discovered to my horror that people could still post questions while we were out of town. I answered them, and then posted a thread asking that this not be allowed to happen in view of eBid's stance on unanswered questions. No response. As far as I know this is still happening.
Since, as far as I know, no one has ever had their listings removed because of a failure to answer a question, these warnings should either be completely removed, or modified to indicate that eBid will use common sense before removing all of a seller's listing. This threat may actually be driving some new sellers away.
