    Default What is 'Partial Shade'?

    What does 'partial shade' mean?

Does it mean somewhere that is never in direct sunlight (which to me means in permanent shade) or it it somewhere that is in direct sunlight for part of the day?

It means under something like branches or a climber, where dappled light gets through, doesn't it?

I understand it to mean something that is shade part of the time.

Somewhere between a peach tree which likes sun all the time, and bluebells which like shade most of the time

    Like my primrose and polyanthus.

Hurumph! That means I can't plant Begonias where I wanted to then. I shall have to have a re-think.

    Thanks all for the clarification.

I'd think begonias would do fine anywhere in the UK - I haven't seen enough sun here to worry about...............

Do an experiment - plant some in several places, and see which do best!!
    Ta-Ta for now!

QVC had an item on a few nights back, and the selling point was "They are un-killable"

I forget the name of the plant but thought that to be a big statement for a TV show

LOL! Unfortunately that seems to be the case with far too many reality shows these days...

Best wishes for many sales to all,
