Default Pocket knives and other collectible knives

The rules say no knives. in the US at least, pocket knives and some other legal knives are highly collectible. Is there any provision to sell saya Case brand knife that is an expensive, scarce, sought after collectible?

As far as I'm aware, knives of any kind aren't allowed on eBid, which is governed by UK laws. If in doubt, you may want to contact support before listing.

Best wishes for many sales to all,

As the UK reads there should be no problem with US sellers selling them to US buyers

It would be nice if this was properly addressed

No knives, firearms, etc.....per the info on listing and selling when you click on the help button above right. I think things like butter knives are allowed, but not switch blades, pocket knives, hunting knives....e.tc. As was said above, the only place to go for the full and final explanation is to support, via the help button above. We can have any opinion we want, but what matters is what they have set up as the rules and guidelines for sales. I'm guessing they want to keep their liability low. PRobably don't want knives being sold to kids, and there is no way to know really who is buying, so check with support......good luck.

I go into our local $2.00 shop and I see all sort of mean looking knives for sale and I cringe.
They are also sold at local markets

    Don't these retailers have a conscience ?

I don't want that sort of knives sold anywhere.

If you do contact support and get an answer other than "no knives allowed at all", please let us know.

It would make sense to me that Canadians or Americans (not sure of laws in other countries) should be able to sell to pocket or collectible knives to buyers in these countries as the knives as legal. But, I suppose that is another thing to monitor then and it's probably just easier to prohibit the sale of these items across the board.

I grew up having knives and guns. My father was an officer in the Canadian army and my mothers father was an officer in the British army, retired, when I knew him. I always had a rifle and various sorts of knives. But I was taught how to respect and handle these items. We don't have that type of restriction in Canada with knives. I sell at a flea market (Car Boot). I sell knives and swords among other things. We have laws that forbid selling smoking paraphernalia such as cigarette lighters to minors, but no laws about selling knives to minors. Having said that, I do not sell to minors. If a kid wants to buy a knife, I tell them to go and get their parent. If the parent says it is OK, then I only sell the knife to the parent. Then the parent can sell / give it to the child. That way I do not have any liability in regard to the child as I sold it to the parent. If a person, young or old pretty well anywhere in the world wants to get a knife or a gun illegally, they can, so banning the sale only keeps knives out of the hands of responsible law abiding people. My opinion, for what it is worth.
I am in no way putting down the opinions of others or the law in other countries. I am stating my opinion.

That statement could be made about anything including drugs or smoking paraphernalia

As eBid's Registered Office is in England, the law that applies is English & Welsh Law, as per their Terms & Conditions.
Scotland, & Northern Ireland tend to have their own Laws, that may, or may not be the same as the English & Welsh ones.

As far as I know, if they want US Law to apply, they would need to have a Registered Office in the USA,
Canadian Law, a Registered Office in Canada etc etc.

Of course that is true. Everybody knows that is true. However, with the rise in knife crime in the UK the government has to be seen to be doing something - anything.

As they are not willing to lock up anyone caught carrying a weapon in a public place for something like 10 years then they bring in a daft and ineffective law. Like any law, you dan't have to agree with it but you are required to obey it.

eBid did use to allow the sale of certain categories of knives/swords. They got tired of people abusing this and forever having to police such listings. Eventually decided that it was easier to place a blanket ban on such items. If someone wants to sell them then they can sell them elsewhere.

eBid also seems to work on the principle that if something is illegal to sell in one country it serves then it is banned totally - regardless of the country of sale. A recent case in point was the sale of NAZI memorabilia. Perfectly legal to trade in most countries but illegal in Germany, so eBid bans its sale on any of its sites.

Like laws above, you do not have to agree with eBid's rules but if you want to use the site then you have to comply with them.
