Gazza is my buddy point link working please ?

Ok anyone who needs to check they have successfully added a valid buddy link to there "about me" page you can use this tool, it's the last check at the bottom.

This tool will not check if eBid reads the cookie back correctly or any other causes of failed points, It will only inform you that you have added the correct url.

"I have been here more than two years and have only ever received a total of 2 buddy points for someone joining through my link - one of whom bought from me and one, it seems, didn't! Over that same period more than 45 newbies have bought from me as their first (and, very often, only) purchase(s) on eBid. It has struck me as odd from time to time that I don't get more points but hey ho! I might have been able to "buy" something with 45+ buddy points - instead I have now sold/bought 280+ items, have feedback of 241 and have accumulated the grand total of 8.723 buddy points (I haven't spent any) in over two years. So I have never seen them as something to get excited about..... but maybe I should be getting more??"

I wrote the above in January when this was last discussed - since then I have had four more newbies buy from me, and only me - but no buddy points.


Using Jimbo's checker tool above it would seem the link isn't working - as it shows a red cross and suggests I add a buddy link to my pages. As far as I am concerned it has been there for more than two years. Will get OH to have a look.

Right.. I did the test.. my husband joined eBid and I got the buddy point. So people just don't like the links? This morning, another newbie bought from me within minutes of joining but obviously not via my link. Still, money is better than buddy points (I still hate that name...)

Then why did Gazza point it out as being a problem with Madelaine's link in the past if it doesn't make any difference ? I'm afraid I don't understand that Kim ?

No that wasn't the answer.... link was not on All about page - just on auction pages. Added to All about page and jimbo's checker tool says all is OK now. Maybe it is because if people use my link they are taken to registration pages in French and very few people who buy from me are French. Given several weeks of spare time I might work through and add a link to the French pages for the French and the UK pages for English speakers to all my auctions and see if that makes a difference.

Well as the owner of the site I thought he might have an iota of knowledge about the problem. But if everybody is saying he's wrong and he hasn't come in to answer me then there's nothing more to be said on the issue. I will just accept that nobody is clicking on my links anymore and that the change in them is not making any difference. End of story.
