hi i have a lladra angel with child.it is stamped B-30 JM and its matte is this a rare item as i can only find the glaxed angel with child.any information would be most welcome

Yes they are retired. There are several up for sale on ebay I saw some glazed but haven't spotted a matte one yet.

This item is in the Lladro reference guide as No. 4635. Name. Angel with Child. Issued 1969.Retired 2002. Issue price £9.50. Last retail price £84.50.

I would think that the one in the catalouge is the gloss one but the price would probably be the same for both.. As to whether a matte one is more rare than the gloss one and the fact that quite possibly fewer were made I think it depends on the rarity of the gloss one.

I collect Zaphir figures that are part of the Lladro brand and find that the matte ones are a lot harder to find than the gloss ones. Having said that I usually find that they are cheaper to buy than the gloss ones as gloss seems to be what the majority of people want. Matte can become expensive if several collectors want a particular one to go with a similar gloss item therefore having one in gloss and one in matte for their display.

If you are going to sell this item then I would go down the road of explaining that the matte version is not as plentyful as the gloss version and in order to have one of each it may be a long while before another comes along.

Hi. B-30 is probably the batch number and quite possibly the JM could be the sculptures initials.
