This would give us tons of time to put things together and get it organised. It could be promoted as a way of getting 'non runners' to 'run' so to speak. As for what we could do - the obvious would be auctions - or perhaps for a set period or set days the participating sellers could afree to give x% to the agreed collector / organiser.
Hi, what a fantastic thread, I like the idea of linking in with charity events and as mentioned here, it enables non runners to participate and also raising awareness for charities. Facebook is a great way to reach millions of people, its would be easy to promote items on offer before hand to whet people's appetite.

Perhaps eBid could chip in by having a link on their home page to a ''Special Events'' page - and all those sellers that are participating in a particular event could have their banner or logo on it with a link to their stores.

It would also have to be made obvious to all visitors to the site that, for example, if there is to be a 1/2 price day, then the 1/2 price offers are only being offered by sellers on that ''special events'' page.

I think everything from the year I was born has fallen apart. Yes, me included!

Great idea but I don't beleive this would be a reachable task for some sellers. Difficult to get a laptop from 1958 or even a CD or DVD from the 60's

A competition where there's clues hidden, or find the listing with XYZ (whatever that is) in it, for all competing sellers.

Not too keen on the sacrificial pricing since many sellers (or even just speaking for myself!) cannot afford to drop prices any lower (else I might as well throw all my goods out of my window!) BUT I really do like the colour theme idea - it instills corporate branding without incurring any extra fees to existing sellers. Either by having to list something or just pointing out an existing item on sale, we could click the 'share in Facebook' - imagine the amount of Purple & Green pictures on walls! Though I think we would have to be careful about the number of postings we can do in case it is seen as spamming (?)

Facebook is a good platform and great exposure to those outside the circle of eBid and so would certainly generate some curiosity.

Or (language barrier pending) we could post our Acronyms for the letters eBid (in a positive light of course)
Or list 4 items that begin with those letters

With the UK A-Z listing idea, it could be called a listathon.
This could then be done with eBid HQ doing the seller+ life time for £26 for 26 hours.

Shouldn't that be 'Buyer's' ? I thought the intention was to attract more buyers no?
