    The Alexa Rating for eBid

The higher the graph rises - the more 'logins' are being made to eBid.

For anyone viewing - Installing the Alexa tool on your status bar will help our rating!
Firefox users can get the Alexa Sparky 1.5.0 ADD-ON

Can someone explain exactly what the Alexa rating represents please? I have seen it represents log ins to eBid but is this log ins to eBid if you have the toolbar installed or does it represent all log ins?

    @Adrumi

Alexa can only count the logins for people with the Alexa toolbar installed on their machine.

That is why I have been suggesting that ebid members install the toolbar.
But of course if you visit any other sites, it also helps their rating!

    Thanks Julie,
So if I have the toolbar and login to eBid 10 times a day that counts as 10 hits?

Al, - you might find this extract interesting:

" ... Alexa changed its algo sometimes back, which changed various website’s ranks. Here are a few good things from that change.

1)Install Alexa toolbar and view your sites many times do not influence your ranks much as it used to do. Currently alexa does not disclose its other ways by which it is calculating its stats.

2)All those sites that say manipulating Alexa ranks is easy have their own ranks in millions!

3)Auto Script etc. for manipulating Alexa ranks dose not works.

Whether you like alexa ranks or hate it, find it useful or misleading, you just can’t ignore it
    ... "

    Also Interesting is this:

    Alexa Toolbar
You probably know about the Alexa toolbar, which has been around practically forever, providing information for the intellectually curious who want to know the hot stories and sites of the day and explore the Web in all its riches.
What you might not know is that Alexa has grown up over the years. It provides a gold mine of traffic, popularity, keyword, clickstream and trend data for search marketers, too.
    Alexa for Internet Explorer
Alexa, which is owned by Amazon, renders two different ways. In Internet Explorer, it's a classic top-of-the-browser toolbar, showing the Alexa search field, page traffic ranking, the top story of the day, related links, hot Websites and the average user rating for the site you're viewing in your browser.
    Alexa for Mozilla Firefox
Alexa provides a richer experience in Firefox. In this browser, Alexa is an add-on, which sits in the taskbar at the bottom of the browser. It uses graphs to show the Alexa traffic ranking, traffic trends and page rank and also has a "reach" meter to display the page reach, which is the number of people the page reaches per million users.

It's just Tony being negative again.

(If he had his own website then I am sure he would not ignore his Alexa ratings)

So anyone who disagrees with viewing things through your rose tinted glasses is negative. As for owning my own website I have had a number of different ones over the years and own a fairly successful retail one at the moment.. Never once have I tried to boost my ego by using dubious counting methods. Its is easy to get large levels of meaningless visitors to a website and to raise your rating in sites like Alexa by using Hit Exchanges .

What actual matters is not the number of visitors but how many buyers you get.
