Okay - I'll ask - What is an "Alexa rating"?

Alexa is a company that runs a website ratings service based on the number of times their users visit a website. I joined Alexa (free) and put their tool bar on my website.

So that everytime I visit a website it counts my visit and it also shows me that website's ranking.

Eg Google is no 1, Facebook 2, feebay is 21, BBC World is 44. My own website is 1,000,000.

You can go to Alexa and type in any website you want to look at, and it well give some interesting info on them.

Obviously if a website is going up in Alexa ratings it is doing well, if it is going down, then it is losing members etc.

When I joined ebid in January it was around 13,700.
Every time I go to a website the first thing I do is look at my Alexa tool bar to see how they are doing.

It is also worth noting the growth trends. Over the last 3 months, Ebid has seen a 13% rise in traffic, whilst fleabay has only risen by 5%.

Be very careful with the Alexa toolbar - personally I wouldnt have it within 100 metres of my computer.

I've had it for 3 years with no problems and so have millions of others.

I just have the Status Bar option its nice and tiny.
