A lot of people on here make lot's of sales.
Maybe you could try listing some cheaper items to get some feedback built up first, before slating a site you know nothing about.

What is wrong with mentioning a competeing site?

I don't think it is a bad thing if there is no link to your former site. Most of us just say we have sold on other sites and let it go. Google picks up on words in things posted and someday you may find your about me page in the Google search I guess. At least that is my understanding and if I am wrong someone will come along and correct me (I hope).
