Altering the number of items available

When I find another one, I go to the listing, alter the number from 1 to 2, the system tells me it has edited the listing but nothing changes. I understand that this is turning a single listing into a multiple listing and ebid doesn't allow me to do that which is a bit crazy BUT it doesn't even tell me that it hasn't done it. Could that be changed, at least to warn me?

Yep.. it sure Does matter... a very annoying matter one way or the next.
I have had problem with over 300 auctions in last 12 Months here.. yes I find many multiples latter on. And I am sure Thousands more to follow.

I didn't know you wanted cheerleaders (and wasn't here anyway) but yes I agree, definitely needs a warning even if only to stop newbies asking. *waves pompoms*
