Trust all is well and that you had a good xmas, all the best for 2011.

Hope that based on past experience of the frequency of updates to categories you might soon be doing an overhaul and just wanted to remind you of this fairly significant overhaul required.

in addition, i would like to add Tanzania under the heading stamps>commonwealth and british colonial

hope you might be able to make these changes soon as i currently have circa 300 thematic listings that will require change and not all of those will work with a bulk edit and i know i could add a lot more with these thematic categories being expanded.

If the stamps section is being overhauled, more sections and subtitles are still needed for postal history. Particularly Germany and Czechoslovakia. I am listing a lot of covers under "stamps" as there is no really suitable section for "Postal History".

i hope you dont mind my saying this but you need to compile a list of categories and sub-categories you would like to see for postal history and/or germany and czechoslovakia as I and others compiled in suggesting updates to the categories format for thematic stamps.

Unfortunately i have no knowledge whatsoever of these countries to start you off.

The guys behind ebid are not stamp collectors/dealers and as they have posted in the admin section dealing with new categories it is incumbent on us to tell them what we need.

Hi Borucha,

I touched on this briefly, a while ago and gave a few suggestions. Just off the top of my head, I would like to see -

Czechoslovakia, sub headings -

Sudetenland - Postal History, Bohemia & Moravia - Postal History, Slovakia - Postal History, Carpatho - Ukraine Postal History

Germany, sub headings -

Sudetenland - Postal History, Third Reich Postal History etc. Third Reich Stamps 1933-1945

There are quite a few more, but you get the general idea. Some of the present catagories do not really
fit the items that I have been listing.

A heading of Czech Republic, with a seperate heading for Slovakia, would be good too. At the moment, I think we only have
"Czechoslovakia", yet there is a seperate "Czech Republic" heading listed in the postcard section.

Within the stamp categories i have previously indicated that a major overhaul is required for thematic based listings and a fellow ebidder kindly provided a detailed listing format.

it would be really helpful if this could be done sooner rather than later as other websites are in relation to stamps stealing a march whilst the original big brother is clawing many of us back due to the, in relative terms, low sales which is possibly caused by the lack of listings which in stamps at least is partly hampered by the lack of categories.

can't believe it you do a mass of new categories and miss the thread that had the most effort put into it in detailing the comprehensive overview of thematic stamp listings that is required.

what do i need to do to get ebid to deal with this?

been waiting months and based on past experience it will be a number of months before the next batch of category changes is done by which time this tthread will have fallen off a cliff, yet again.

very disappointed and only reinforces why i have had to return to listing on ebay EVEN with their fees.

bump, this thread has been hangning around for months waiting for the categories to be updated. pretty please:-)

thought it was time to give this a number bump up the list as the thematic stamp listing categories are woefully inadequate and proving quite a hinderance to me to and I am sure others in adding to the stamps listed which i note has increased quite dramatically in recent months even with the largest shop currently being offline.
