The 2% fvf is fantastic I agree but ............ I opened up to selling outside UK recently to try to get sales moving a bit - just had my1st US sale and got hit with high Paypal fee - ?for exchange rate etc? Quite a hit. I am feeling that when current auctions have expired I will revert to UK only.

I think paypal is about 30p + 3%. I think it's worth it for sales involving foreign currency, but it does become quite a hit for small sales and you have to be especially careful when postage is the main part of the cost. I agree it's a difficult decision whether to widen your potential market by selling abroad, or keep life simple by specifying only your own country.

For UK sales some banks will offer free banking of cheques up to a certain amount.Paypal is a rip off,for something that requires no physical effort they charge a hell of a lot of money.

International sales via paypal carry a double hit you need to be aware of. First the exchange rate they use isn't overly generous, then they charge a cross-border fee on top. You need to be aware of that when setting your prices.

Default not even an ebay user

I stopped trading on ebay business account months ago for every reason under the sun, the other day I tried listing sum junk and they stopped me listing with a message demanding that I change my personal account into a business account and give up the free listings every month. With no way of listing for my own personal use, I deleted my account, their loss, a few quid made from shifting my own junk around the house is not a business!

Still I suppose ebay demanding that people with thousands of items to sell 'privately' should register as a business drives those same 'private' individuals over here.
    Any port in a storm.

That's all business and not in my house lol I had an ebay business account for moving that, the tshirts, jewellerly and adult items are new sealed unused and there to be sold. I'm not a registered business yet, but I would one day like to be. I'm using profits and experience gained here to achieve the goal of having something I can live off completely, I'm nowhere near making enough money this early on to be registered as a business, though I am keeping books just incase I grow unexpectedly and need all available info, it's also useful for plotting growth.

I'm talking about actual junk. I had 14 items listed at the time of the demand.
Would ebay demand a person change his personal account to a business one used only for shifting his used personal handmedowns, worth only a few quid in total? Yes.

They even suggested to me some time ago that I have one account for business and one for my personal use, I was only following their guidance, and have gone that bit further in alienating me as a customer in both respects!

Ebid has been a pleasure to use, I also like this community aspect
