Nope the subject really was about is facebook for the young or old, and what some people use it for ...I am sure people will find this site, and I give the reason why I jumped from feebay.

Sounds good, any mention helps. About time we got a little pubicity here and there! It is still amazing to me that fleebay still gets all that free advertising. Any celebrity auction, they hold it and get free publicity for it. Any weird thing sold, they are doing it and get free writeup in all the newspapers. Anyone know George Clooney? Maybe we can get him to donate something for a celebrity auction on ebid!!

I have to say that I am not crazy about not having a dot.com domain for this site. Don't get me wrong, I think eBid is a great site, but the dot.net domain makes it seem like a lesser site than it is. In the US at least, dot.net seems a bit sketchy for a real commerce site. One step above a dot.org. The fact that there is a cheesy ebid.com site out there doesn't help. Ebid should really try and buy that domain name out or at least do SOME advertising in the US. More people should know about this very viable alternative to Feebay.
In the UK also I have had people ask me whether Ebid.net is a properly supported site, because they do not associate dot net with a commerce site.
My server supplier for my domains is a dot net, streamline.net, and that seems logical for a server provider.
www.ebid.com is owned by "New Century Investments" who own about 521 other domains.

I still occassionally stumble into "that site"; very annoying. Recently did a word search for eBid; got a list of about 8 responses including "that site" & was very surprised that eBid.net did not even show up in the group. Not good.
A couple of months back, I dug out the following information about eBid.com - I was thinking of maybe trying to rally the troops here and accumulate a fighting fund to acquire the dot com domain name and then donate it from the community to the boyz. Thinks happened and the idea got sidelined, but for anyone interested in such a concept - remember the British Telecom slogan - it's good to talk.
Here's what I dredged up (for the US members - note the current domain registrant is on your turf).

The other alternative for da Boyz is to jump on the recently released Columbian top level domain system and grab ebid.co before some name squatter does so.
@Gazlannathai
Buying the ebid.com domain name is a good idea.
But I don't think its a major as some people make it out to be.
I would be prepared to donate a small amount.
I wonder if you should write to the other Gaza and ask him this thoughts on this matter.
Obviously the bigger ebid.net gets, the more they will want for it.
100 dollars, a thousand, five thousand ? one hundred thousand ?
But I think they had it first.
But they are not using it as far as I can see.

Hi Julie
One of the factors that made me hesitate about starting a fund is purely location - trying to do anything from here in Thailand regarding banking is a little tricky regarding my UK accounts and getting an extra one - I'd want to get a bank account and cards to set up an online payments account (whether paypal, ppPay or whoever, just for the fund, so I could separate it from mine and my business's accounts and keep the book-keeping "clean". Because of that, I was hoping someone else would do the money holding and book-keeping, if I pitched in with the marketing and promotion of such a fund. It's a big "ask" to make of anyone, and especially of those who are most likely to be trusted by the eBid community at large. Dunno - the idea is on the shelf right now, we'll have to wait and see if there's any interest in it.
