Default Does anyone know about ebid.com ?

    Hi Guys

I am "talking" to someone in the USA who is obsessed with ebid.com.
He says that ebid.com is not like a real auction site and this puts him off using ebid !

To me ebid.com looks like a "parking site" that has links to other auction sites, but not our ebid ?

Does anyone know the truth about this ?

Does ebid.com belong to Gazza and co or someone else ?

ebid.com has nothing to do with ebid.net - it is an entirely different website (and quite confusing for many people)

Make sure your chat buddy is talking about us and not ebid.com

If he/she is rambling on about ebid.com then let them know about us

Your correspondent is absolutely correct, but it's a weird obssession. It's nothing to do with this place or its ownership at all. Can't imagine why somebody would refuse to use one site because another one a little bit like it but with no association belonged to a domain camper. Weird attitude.

If someone doesn't know and refuses to learn the difference between ebid.net and ebid.com . . .

Do I really want that person buying from me? So far we've had excellent, intelligent, literate buyers who actually read our descriptions and understand every word. I'd like to keep it that way.

I like the term camper site...........it is that.......an advertising site. I fell into it a few times when I was new....and can see why it is annoying a bit.........some of us older fuddie duddies are so used to .com that .net doesn't come to mind as readily......

Yes, Tia, you do want them buying from you.......just because we may get a bit confused sometimes doesn't mean we aren't nice people or the color on our money runs when it gets wet.............................
    Ta-Ta for now!

Read some of the horror stories on #*%Bay and you'll understand why I appreciate eBid's buyers so much. I'm thinking about the problems some sellers have had with buyers who claim an item isn't as described because they didn't read the description or take a good look at the picture, and then left negative feedback even though the seller did nothing wrong.

I would rather lose the sale.

    Thanks guys
You have confirmed what I had thought.

Yes the guy refuses to buy or sell on ebid because ebid does not own ebid.com !

Whilst I agree that it would be good if Gazza and Mark did, they don't so, short of offering a lot of money for it, there is nothing they can do.

I have told this guy to just use ebid.net. It is not a big deal surely!

Tell me about it!! I had a buyer the other day who bought a 16" chain from me, then left negative feedback saying it was too short!!! Yes, I would rather have not had the sale, not for the sake of a couple of quid!!

This happened to us with @mazon. Some buyers complaint and we were forced not to sell for a month. All because a person who harrased us for an item she bought that she did not read description. We lost alot of money. My point is The impact of bad feedbacks left from these buyers can make sellers go jump off the bridge.
