    Hi Pink Panther,

People have had many problems when they opened only a business page. I would advise opening a personal profile first, then add your business page second. The personal profile should not be named the same as your business page. In this situation you won't be able to get into your business page to post or manage it and therefore cannot close it. So think of a business page name that is different from your personal profile name.

How to keep your personal profile from unwanted "friends":
-use a nick name for your personal profile
-when FB asks you if you want FB to find you friends via your email account, click NO.
-put in a new, free, email address when asked by FB. Use an email address that is not your usual email address. People can search for you using your email address. If you put in an email address that no one knows, they can't find you.

    You Privacy Settings:
-Under Customer Settings - "Things I share", mark all the the settings as "Custom" then click "Only Me" ***

Under Basic Directory Information - "View Settings"
Set the following privacy categories as below:
-Search for me on FB -- Only Friends
-Send me Friend Requests -- Friends of Friends
-Send me Messages -- Only Friends ***
-See my Friend list -- Click "Customize", then "Only Me"
    - Do the same "Customize", then "Only Me" on the remainder of the options

Now you're set. If your profile name is a nick name- they won't find you. If you don't use your primary email address, they won't find you.

I hope this info helps you.

    Maxx

*** PS: As far as networking for your business page... I would tell you to do a few things slightly differently on your profile page. This would require you to accept "Friends" (other business people) that are networking also.

Search Youtube for How to Facebook Network or How to make many facebook friends. This will get you started on networking.

I don't think having these links frequently stall the front page for 20-30 seconds helps business in any way. When I hit a page that is new to me with such a stall I click it away and don't return.

Have you investigated why you seem to be the only person suffering this symptom?

As Maxx has said, a Facebook business/fan page is a fantastic free way to promote your Ebid store and get some more sales. It's well worth setting one up as it's a great free tool to update your customers with latest offers, new products and new stock.
I use mine to upload new Keyrings and Fridge magnet images, offer special offers just to my Facebook fans, promote my Ebid store, show my best sellers, etc, etc.
For a few ideas you can see the sort of things I use my Facebook fan page for, here http://www.facebook.com/?ref=logo#!/...s/230921560244

The good thing is, once set up you can ask all your friends to join and they often bring in further fans/likes from their friends. Plus every time you update your Business/fan page all your fans/members see the updates on their wall so they are often reminded of all your new stock, special offers, etc.

You can create a free business "PAGE" for your ebid stores. I've just started one and am currently working on it. I've added a place for people to advertise their eBid Stores and Blog Sites. http://www.facebook.com/pages/Maxx-Fashion-Mod-Retro-Clothes-Vintage-Clothing/133810743331626

A "Page" is different than a "Profile". A "Profile" is a personal page where you connect with family and friends. If you use your personal "Profile" to consistently advertise your eBid items, per Facebook policies, your "Profile" will be suspended.

A "Page" is a business page specifically designed to advertise your Stores/Business. If you wish to make a business "Page", simply go to my business "Page": http://www.facebook.com/pages/Maxx-Fashion-Mod-Retro-Clothes-Vintage-Clothing/133810743331626. Then click on "Create a page for my Business", which is located at the bottom of the left hand column.

A new window will open to guide you in the making of your business "Page". You'll want to select the "Business Page" option to create and keep the ability to maintain your page. DO NOT select the "Community Page" or "Group" options.

Business pages are found on Google if you have your personal "Profile" Privacy Setting Public Search set to Enable Public Search.

With this setting you will still have the ability to choose what not to share about your personal "Profile" on Google. You can lock it down to show nothing but your profile picture. But your Business page will be searchable in the Google Search Engine.

If you'd like more details or help in setting up your Facebook business "Page", feel free to email me.

Hope this information is helpful for potential and current Facebook users.
