I have run a few ads on Facebook and got some sales.
But I am not into it in a big way.
But we have to remember that there are over 300 million people on it and some people spend A LOT of time on Facebook.

So I think it is something we should all try to get to grips with.
I find its user interface very cluttered.

UPDATE - I just saw on the BBC that Facebook now has 500 million users, having added 100 million in the last six months.

Yes some Russian billionaire put millions into it a year or so ago.

Apparently it costs a lot to run (bandwidth etc)

So they will want to be making some money.
They do charge for the ads down the right hand side.

yeah 8% of the worlds population are on facebook but you can only have 4000 friends.

The sun glasses sellers would post links to the items they were selling on their own walls, which would appear on the main wall. But that tended to be their downfall, as people would block them, as to make sure everyone seen their adds, they had to list them continuously as the wall is always renewing and people are always signing on and off. But the people that were on a lot would quickly get sick of them.

The ebid groups and pages I know of

    http://www.facebook.com/#!/pages/eBid/112331982116603?ref=ts

    http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gi...805&ref=search
    http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gi...454&ref=search

It would be handy if someone could make an ebid related app, I had suggested some form of treasure hunt , just before ebid came out with the treasure hunt and that may still be valid.
You know the sort of thing a few clues or puzzle questions that would eventually lead them to an item or prize.

Another thing may be to find a way to link to the games, through the gifting, The ebid.net gift of fuel or game money to farmville users, or a weapon or money for mafia wars or one of the other games on there. Not sure how much that would cost but may be worth looking at as a group thing.
Another idea would be to promote the ebid group, by using the gamers or those that use the games to build possible clients, which would be for the gamers to offer a selection of gaming items for the purpose of a prize, which would promote the ebid group and eventually ebid.net. All it would take is people supplying gaming items for the selected games for a final prize, or selection of prizes.

For those struggling it is quite easy to use, and if you wish to start building potential customers you could look through these to see what the people are like for the different pimping groups.

You're right .. if you post too much on your wall, it will **** the friends off .. or embarrass your family's friends !. So i have been posting on the facebook market place but 'skipping' the option which asks you to post on friends walls. This is still visibal to all the facebook population who care to look on there, it still posts on your wall but i think the friends won't get bugged with it.

I do find it if I click on an active auction.
I think you're getting confused about what it's for, maybe?

The share buttons (facebook, twitter, digg) are for publicising an active listing. No reason why they should be anywhere near the edit page.
