I've been talking to a couple of professional fundraisers (employed by a specific charity), and they are just waiting for their various trustees to give them the go ahead to switch to Virgin. It dosn't take many £15 monthly charges to equate to the £100 "lifetime" sign up fee!

Did you know that H4H is Virgins officially adopted charity? They don't pay any charges at all!

I don't know if this is the right thread or not, but I went to Twitter and I am following YDC now. Is that right?

Great, I'll add you to the ebid list and make sure you're being followed back, thanks. You can say it in any thread you like. :-D

I've just been part-way through the set-up process there to see how it works, and it all revolves around "events". There doesn't seem to be a general "just make me a collector and let people pay indefinitely" sort of thing. So it might be that somebody has to set up a new event for each month's YDC. This will keep the sums easier, and means it can be made to point at whichever charity directly (assuming they're on there I suppose), but is going to be more work for "whoever".

I just throw that into the hat, Boss. :-D

I have just written to them as I wouldn't mind using them for my charity items. But as they are ongoing I wouldn't know what to use. Let's see what the answer will be

Okay, I thought I might as well finish the process and see what happened, so I've created a *personal* YDC fund-raising page for myself, to collect any money for the RNLI (since I generally do one or two of those, whoever the month's charity is). You can see this at http://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/bykimbo to get the idea.

Please note this is restricted to the RNLI and it's just my page, not an attempt to set-up anything for YDC as a whole.

I've put that on as a year-long "event", since it insists on some sort of calendar structure.

I've mentioned YDC and eBid in there to give them an airing. (o:

It lets you put that on your Facebook page too, so I've done that.

It did ask about something called a "network" so I said sure, create one of those... er... not sure what that does as I then need Virgin Money Giving members email addresses to invite them to make a network of people with similar interests etc. Apparently we get a (virtual) badge. ;o) So if anybody else is on there, let me have your email and I'll see what I can do about a YDC network - if nobody objects? Then we can have personal pages for our own charities and events, but linked via this network - as I understand it.

If Vonz, or anybody, sets up a *general* YDC one it can be linked to show the YDC twitter stream too. I didn't add mine to my VMG page, I didn't think me talking about the weather and F1 would add much. ;o)

If anybody has any other questions on the subject, I'll try to help... but that's pretty much the sum total of my knowledge after, ooh, nearly 30 minutes experience now. ;o)

I was experimenting and typing as you posted, so it might be that I've answered your query already?

Oh sure - just thought if you were wanting to get something started I'd point out what I'd done to get something running. Not saying it's the only, or even the best solution.
