The only thing we can do is perhaps to give it a go - try and see so to speak. I know I haven't done any YDC's this year but drawing on this months I have 15 characters remaining so it would work in that one. As I said earlier - it may benefit in that it will get the brain cells working to come up with more imaginative titles. If 'charity auctions' is something that people generally search for, then it can only help draw attention to the YDC and the auctions. In truth, we won't really know until its tried. Perhaps something to look to try in the new year.

I think it's worth giving it a go, even if only some of the people could fit the words in the title, would be better than nothing.

It's perhaps worth mentioning that the rules already say that the body of the description should include: "This auction is an entry in the YDC83 charity auction competition." or words to that effect, so they already have the key phrase in them.

Maybe OK in the description but not the title. By the time you have got 'YDC xx Charity Auction ' in, there is not a lot of characters left to give a proper title to the item.

This could be a concern to some; perhaps a trial run of the concept on a voluntary basis.

I think this is a great idea. Would not hurt to try. Your title was certainly long enough & also included the key words "charity auction". Did you find any appreciable increase on views? This would make a neat pilot study, and also more importantly could increase traffic and revenue for eBid and the charities respectively. I am going to try it next go round.

P.S. To be most effective, both key words "charity auction" should be in the title and in the description.

My auctions say "this auction is part of YDC__".............rules require that mention. Don't think most are stating "YDC__ charity auction" specifically. Never really looked for those key words in the YDC auctions. Inclusion in both title & description specifically should help increase visibility in search engines.

I don't use the exact wording either, but those *are* the rules so in theory we're both excluding ourselves by not complying!

Not only am I non-compliant (as usual), but I also guilty of plagarism because I just copied the #6 RULE from the YDC83 Announcement Thread, and have no intention of requesting permission. See below. Off for me morning coffee..........................*#@*&):-*&^%$#@!
