If the ads earn eBid a bit more dosh I don’t see any harm. They are not going to attract me to use feebleBay anymore and hopefully they just cost them money. I don’t think they will attract anyone away from eBid as I should think all eBid members (buyers and sellers) will have already heard of feebay somewhere!

No direct advertisements from them are shown on eBid.

I thought they were a competitor, seems absurd to send them trade or customers.
They did that to me the other day, I wrote:

    E
    B
    I
    D

    N
    E
    T

And they removed it and warned me, and the traffic to my listings went down too.

I've got my own sales website and there is now way I would run any ads on it.
It is there to sell my products and not to distract any viewers.

But if ebid need the revenue to keep our fees down, its OK I suppose.

So you believe advertising only works for unknown companies and that every well known company/brand is wasting their time and money by advertising as everyone has already heard of them
My posts only state my own opinions, unless I've stolen them from someone else

The application used to block certain sites from appearing in the ads is called a Competitor Filter, its primary use is to block ads from your competitors from showing up on your site. Publishers also use it to block low quality or irrelevant sites too.

The filter is not that good, as it is limited by the number of characters you can add so any company can make their add link to a page with an extra long name.

But personally I would not put a competitors add on a sight, as in a lot of cases it is hard to tell the adds from the sites you support. So it would be an easy mistake for a possible buyer to move away from the site

But on saying that I have never seen any adds on ebid for a while

a good thing if google ads for the bay appear here is when they're clicked it's costing feebay money for a change.

Many ads on eBid come via impressionz.com - which is owned by GasDigital Ltd - which is owned by the same people that own eBid.
Mel that shows you know a lot on here.
