James Herriott - Fiction or Non-Fiction?
Have just been sorting through a box of my late mother's books and came across some James Herriot paperbacks.
Now, when I worked in the County Library all those years ago, I'm pretty sure these were treated as fiction as they are stories based on his real-life experiences.
But Pan label them as autobiography/Humour!

I think they are non-fiction/autobiography. I believe the stories are straight-forward narratives of actual events in his career. I vaguely remember an interview where he said the only things he changed were names (to protect the "innocent" and "not-so-innocent").
They are definitely non-fiction apart from his children's books. I used to live just outside Thirsk and everyone knew where they were in the books!

I havent read the books since being a teen, but I would definitly say non-fiction/ biographical.
