    @HobbyHabit

    Yes Like you I had noticed quite a good increase in US listings over last week or so. We even got over the 2 and half million mark, but then every now and then they drop by a lot. (96,000 yesterday) I am not sure if its a huge number of sales, or some people leaving, or maybe ebid cleaning out dead listings.

    I had 5 sales on the USA yesterday (to one person - thanks Christian)

    Lets us know about that blog if you can, sounds a good idea.

    There are lots of people on feebay looking at leaving and of course they want to go to site that is going upwards. I do think ebid is.

    Looking forward to helping you out with a coffee mug holder!

    Odd, the dips in the ebid listing total.The figure is for items available to the USA which obviously should be less than the total number of items on sale.In fact it must be because it was now quite a long while since I won the 3000 dollar prize for listing the three millionth item.#
    At least the ebid figure is more realistic than the inflated greedbay ones,take away the duplicates,fakes and Chinese junk and it would be much,much lower.

    I listed my first BIN auction today. I'm dipping my toes in the water before jumping all in. Thanks for the Luv!

    I'd suggest trying a few BIN listings to have more of an impact. I found that I got more views to my listings as I listed more.

    Well, I would except the products I have are all the same products, same brand, same packaging, same size, etc. and I think eBid forbids duplicate listings.

    Am I wrong on this?

    You are right no duplicates, but you can do dutch style and maybe sell more than one to each buyer.

    Will you be happy if they sell for the begining auction price? There aren't many bidding wars and most sell for the starting price. So if you won't be happy with that you will need to change it before getting a buyer.

    And welcome to ebid and good luck with the sales.

    @pawtasticpet

    Which link was that ?
    There are a couple of sites that come to mind with different rankings of the various auction sites.

    Glad you are going to list more on here, we seem to be getting lots of new members these days.

    I really don't know if auctions are "dead" or if it's just that they don't work well for collectibles.

    I do know that collectibles like the ones we have are only going to sell to specific people, collectors of that particular kind of item.

    Since I am collect a few things, I know how I look for them:
    Put some keywords in the search box. I always try eBid first, then go to Google Shopping.
    If I get too many results, refine it.
    Then browse only those items that are very close what I'm looking for.
    It doesn't matter if they're auctions or Buy it Now, if I find something I want I'll buy it. In fact, if it's something I really want, I don't want to wait for an auction to end. And sometimes it may not be exactly what I had in mind, rather something I didn't even know existed, and I REALLY want it now.
    Keep in mind that I don't do this more often than once every couple of weeks, and sometimes longer. If an auction has started and ended during that time, I'll never see it. A BIN item that hasn't sold will still be there.

    I would have thought that collectables would be one category that suited auctions !

    Eg if I want a computer part or a consumer item, I want it now and will just find one and buy it, I am not going to bid for it.

    But If I was a collector, I would be prepared to bid for an item, as that would be half the fun. Eg I used to buy old history books. (I still would If I had some spare cash)
