I am struggling to work out how to set up stores. I have a wide variety of mens, ladies and childrens clothes, shoes and accessories to sell (plus household bits and bobs and books I'll worry about later).

When I set up a store can it only include one of these categories e.g. womens clothes or can it have a 'Clothing and Accessories' theme with sub categories?

I haven't even attempted to put an item on yet - do I load these first or after I've set up the store... and more to the point how do I do it?

Sure it's easy once you know how!

    Many thanks

If I've understood you right, you're struggling to decide what to do about categories and how to make those sort of decisions rather than the mechanics?

Your shop has to be assigned to one category, but that's just to identify its main area of interest, you can include other categories not related if you wish. However, with ebid seller plus you get five free stores, so you might as well separate them as much as seems logical to you. If you have a collection of "left over" ranges that don't fit into a particular niche, you can use "general store" for the category for that store.

If you do want some help with the mechanics of actually setting this up, take a look at my help pages at www.ebidhelp.com - there are sections on creating shops, putting items into shops, etc.

    Good luck and welcome aboard!

To be honest I'm struggling full stop! I've decided to just get listing for now after spending 2 nights trying to create a store (think I'm nearly there). Well at least it's the bank holiday weekend so with this awful weather I'll have something to keep me occupied! So that's 2 items down and about 300+ to go!! thanks for all your help folks, for someone who spends 8hrs a day at work on a PC I feel like a proper technophobe

Maybe a link from your message to your listings is a good idea so we can take a quick peek at your goodies.

    Ok here goes....

oh dear it's not turned blue, does that mean I don't exist? I just copied and pasted it from 'my stores' which I've turned online but can't find it in the stores listings. I'm currently just listing women's tops so if you can find me and give me some feedback that would be fantastic and very much appreciated.

    Thank you

    Amanda

Except my banner is a bit squished, but I suppose I can have a fiddle with improving that once my items are listed. I used a link someone suggested to help me create a banner but got a bit stuck when I needed to create the picture to download into the banner... can you tell me what's the best program to create that in? I used Publisher then saved it as a JPEG.

    Thanks again

You might be better off in paint rather than publisher. There are also free banner making sites online if you have a bit of a google.
