Thread: New to selling clothing and would appreciate some help

Smile New to selling clothing and would appreciate some help

Have been given some good second hand clothing for both boys and larger sized men. Was thinking of putting them on here at relatively cheap prices to see how they would go. Some of the men's items of clothing are well known brand "Hugo Boss" . I am thinking if these are good value including the postage/shipping cost would it be worthwhile listing them internationally or just leaving them on Australian site? I know I have to have the sizes in the listing, but say for a shirt do I put collar measurement as well as chest, and does arm length measure from under the arm. ATM only considering putting the men's clothing on internationally, as I do not think the boys ones would appeal as much but open to suggestions. Thanks.

You might as well list them internationally, it open you up to more customers. I used to sell a lot of shirts on the other site and I never worried about collar measurements. I don't think people worry about that unless they have a ginormous sized neck! At that point they've got other things to be concerned about.... Anyway, I did give chest measurements and arm length was measured from under the arm.
Someone will probably come along soon with some more advice for you.
    Good luck!

shirts in the UK are generally sold by collar size, so I do think it would help. The more measurements the better I think, then people can't turn around and say: I didn't know that

Meebo. As an ex pat, that's where I must have had the collar sizing in my brain. Thanks for that.

I think it would be a good idea to list all of it. Perhaps you will have more Austrialian buyers, but what the heck, something might appeal to international people too. Clothes are easy to ship in an envelope, are pretty lightweight so the postage should not be too high. And you say the brand name is good too. Why not try it?

Also consider that since the more you list here, the more attention it gets on google, its great to expand what you are selling now to boys' and big mens' clothing. A new little store. You may find it sells so well you will be looking for more at the charity shops to offer! Costs nothing to list and keep it there until it sells.

Just be real careful about specifying the weight, method of shipping for inter'l. If postage looks too high (lets say you boxed it all and sent it out a premium method), then that would turn people off to buying.

Thanks Deltadelta I will do that. Now in the throes of getting a new banner and template for a new store. Oh am I going to be busy. Just hope it pays off as not having much luck on my other items.
