Thread: Newbie & FEEBAY Victim :(

in answer to how busy? i have for the first time taken more here this week than feebay, however it has been a bit of a struggle, and i am not allowed to list on greedbay as i used to, but it does seem to be picking up, the noticable thing is most of my customers are newbies. i use a different name here, but some of my old customers there are now my customers here (they did not realise it was us untill the items were sent with our address), so, fingers crossed, its going in the right direction.

    OOps I didn't realize that.
At least you'll know when your a fully fledged seller+ lifetime member. A great deal considering you have over 1000 items to list!

    Hi Stu,

OK first of all a little smack on the hand for having a link to your myworld at ebay. A big no no, delete it before eBid deletes you. External links to ecommerce sites are not allowed on Me pages, listings and forums.

Also, make your Me Page more friendlier by getting rid of the ebay sob story. Take a look at Craft4aquid me page as an example.

I love the way you have taken advantage of all your free stores.

My reponses that follow are based on 1 of your auctions:

Google do not allow upper case auction titles and will be rejected.
Change all of your listing titles and use normal grammar ie

THE BLUES BROTHERS ORIGINAL SOUNDTRACK TAPE (MINT CON).
    change to:
The Blues Brothers original soundtrack tape (mint con).

The same goes for your descriptions, you will need to change them to lower case, normal grammar. Many of us old biddies have trouble reading upper case text anyway.

All your sound tracks, try and add a list of all the songs. It's amazing what buyers want to know before they commit to purchasing.

Where you state that you will combine postage, does it mean you give a discount? If so, say so clearly.

Try to give as much information as you can to prevent buyer from asking questions (although they will ask anyway as I have found most don't read descriptions fully). But at least you can say: It was stated on my description.

Again, start your bid price at a minimum you are comfortable accepting. There are no bidding wars here on eBid. If there are, then they are extremely rare.

    Your Notice From Seller:
Very nice and friendly information but could be better used for important stuff ie Offering reduced shipping rates on multiple purchases - wait for an invoice - something relevant to purchasing - and/or sales specials as an example.

Your friendly info can go on your Me Page.

    Nice clear and big pictures.

Pretty good descriptions, could be improved.

Your item prices and shipping seem excellent and affordable.

Hope this info helps (you did ask)

    Hi and welcome to ebid.

I second what Jewel said about comments that can be seen as negative in listings. Best to be upbeat and friendly rather than full of rules buyers have to follow. You get more flies with sugar than vinegar!

We get buyers from other places, not just ebid members. Biggest source, bar none, is google. Make sure your stuff gets downloaded and list lots of us for google to work best for you. Contact old customers, tell them you moved, and figure out some of your own marketing techniques (mailings, etc).

How many sales you get depends on how many you want to have and how much you work toward that goal in those four areas. Many get daily sales, many get weekly sales. For many the sales are increasing as ebid becomes more and more popular.

Good luck on ebid. Someone is always here to help you.

    Hi.

I recently moved over from "you know where" & have finally managed to get all my listings tweaked & BINs added. Please can anyone have a look & see if there's any advice you could offer.

    Thanks,

    Matthew

Your doing everything just fine right now. All your listings look great, description is good, lovely big clear pictures, prices and shipping look very good and reasonable. You've done everything that others have suggested now and in the past. Well done.

All you need to do now is get the word out there. Tell your family, friends, previous customers ie emails, leaflets, business cards, website, Facebook, My Space, Blog etc etc.

Don't forget to take advantage of the Plug your Auctions forum where you can create 1 thread to pimp your items and update every 24 hours by replying to yourself and creating any new information etc. It's the only forum where you are allowed to do this.
