Default What does ebid do for advertising?

What kind of budget is allocated for Ebid to promote it self in the real world? I know many members are busting tail to promote it the best they can. I have yet to see any effort coming from ebid to promote it self other than encourageing others to do it for them. If I am wrong I apoligize but I have seen nothing in the US market at all.

I think most ecommerce sites that offer cheap listings cannot really afford to advertise

You cannot have it both ways.

That's why I laugh when I see some new auction site starting up, saying they are offering free listings on no fvf fees. How are they going to get off the ground ? Have they got a couple of million in the bank ?

OP Have you priced any ads lately ?

Imho the best advertising is word of mouth.

If we each told a couple of friends about ebid .....

I suspect the answer is "yes", but I don't really understand the question. What do you want to link? Where is the link to appear, and what is it to go to?

I'm glad to see that people are defending the fact that the answer is being skirted What does ebid do to advertise them self and what kind of budget do they have to do so.

How would we know what budget eBid's management dedicate to advertising??

The advertising for eBid happens mostly on the internet and via press releases I think.

eBid is a privately owned company, so the only people who could answer the question, are the owners, (& their accountant).

Nobody is skirting the question, we cannot answer what we do not know, no matter how rudely you ask.

I think the following as posted in the newsletter is classed as advertising.
eBid will be giving away free merchandise at the Candy Collector Expo in April. Pop in if you are in the vicinity. Location : Stamford Plaza Hotel, 2701 Summer St, Stamford, CT, 06905, USA. April 10 from 10am to 3pm

I don't know what they spend because I'm not an owner of ebid.

As for myself, I list my items on facebook, craig's list [with a link to ebid store page], enclose notes in packages of items sold elsewhere of my listings on ebid, and I tell all my friends about ebid.

With the fees charged here, I have no complaints. You must market yourself and hopefully the word will spread. Ebid has not been in the U.S. for very long. I remember when I first started I actually heard a radio advertisement for ebid while I was driving one day. It was nice to hear but I'm not sure it was worth the money the 'boys' spent. I would much rather have them focus on improving the site [as they have been steadily doing since I joined].

Many of my friends tell me they have looked for items on ebid and have not found what they are looking for. So, until the variety of items improves, it will be a 'hard sell' for people to come back looking. But we have had many sellers join lately and the variety is improving.

Hang in there. Contact everyone you have sold to previously and tell all your friends. Word will spread that way. Good luck on your sales.
