Thread: Advice to buyers on storing coins

  1. #1

Default Advice to buyers on storing coins

There are many ways of storing coins.

A major don't is to store them together in a tin or box.

Any movement can scratch or damage them which will reduce their collectability and their value.

Don't store them in any plastic or other material that may cause a chemical reaction with the coins and damage the suraface.

The best option is to buy ready made coin storage items of a reputable make or if the make is unknown to buy from a reputable source.

Coin envelopes, albums and display cases are all available at E-Bid, coin fairs, hobby shops, coin dealers shops or via the Internet at reasonable prices.

Using these displays will keep your coins safe and give you a nice way of showing them off to other people.

I have no vested interest in this advice as although I sell coins and banknotes at my E-Bid store I do not sell coin or banknote storage but I do want my customers to have a good experience from coin or banknote collection.

I am sure other advice from other dealers on coin and banknote storage would be welcomed by buyers.

Hi, there, it would be useful if you put a signature after your post which includes a link to your shop.

    Good luck with your sales.

    Marsh land

I would like to add that coin cleaning is also a no no. There is a greater chance that you will depreciate the value of a coin rather than improve it.
