I think you're doing something wrong. That was the point I tried to make before, but I was too cryptic, sorry.

Depending on your browser and settings, you might find that you *can't* copy and paste forum messages just by highlighting them as displayed. To do mine I have to go into the message I want to copy in edit, and grab all the BB codes as well as the text. Looks like you're the same. The clue is: when you are editing a message do you see it formatted, or do you see the codes? If, like me, you see the codes then you want to use my "via edit" technique. __________________

Um... yes. but a) I did say browser dependent and b) there isn't any BB code in there. So it rather negates the point, sorry.

No, it never was. You want YDC* to get everything. The star means "followed by anything" so you get those with the number joined on, and those with a gap, all together.
