Sony...Made in China????

Sony has long been my first choice in electrical goods, cameras, computer equipment etc because they were made in Japan.

I had a Sony mouse arrive in the post and it has a 'made in China' note on it.

My previous camera (bought second hand in 2006) says it was Sony and made by the Sony Corporation in Japan.

Just checked my newest camera (again Sony) and this one is made in China.

Does anyone know how long Sony goods have been made in China...because if I had wanted a Chinese product I would have bought one made in China.

As an aside....does anyone know if I can buy cameras etc that are made in Britain?..I'm looking for a new computor mouse as the 2 'made in China' ones I bought recently aren't recognised by my computer

According to my understanding of the above....the manufacturing is in Japan...and they have sales companies in other countries.

There is an address for a manufacturing base in the UK...but I don't see any way to make sure that I buy Sony products made in Japan or the UK rather than China.

I guess my only 2 options is to buy directly from Sony in the UK or find another UK manufacturer.

Sorry, yes you're right, I didn't spot that I just scanned for dates. No mention of *making* stuff in China. I googled "sony manufacturing china" and that came up, along with a few links that appeared to be to Chinese factories that say they supply Sony, but I didn't follow any of those to check.

I agree with you there, far as I was concerned SONY which is also my choice of stereo equipment & my daughters flat screen tv. Has always been made in Japan, but now I read its in China, not happy with that, considering the junk that comes out of china (merchandise wise) before anyone starts
